The fifth release on Anva Records brings Tagir & Zarin’s "Diphthongs EP", a two-track mini-album featuring Diphthongs, a modern take on classic house, and the science-infused B-side Phenomenon Called Dreaming.

On the A-side, "Diphthongs" unfolds as a diptych, mirroring its name. The 12.5-minute track is divided into two acts, symbolizing an era shift. The first act features a familiar groove—steady, metallic bass, an 808 drum machine kick, and an emotive Y2K-style organ. The second act transitions into an unpredictable future—tense atmospheres and fragmented percussions.

On the B-side, Phenomenon Called Dreaming offers a dynamic exploration of dreams. Hypnotic Moog synth lines intertwine with an audio excerpt from Lex Fridman’s podcast, where he and Berkeley professor Matthew Walker discuss why humans dream.
"The entire release took about three weeks to complete," explains Tagir. "I focused on modular synthesis for bass and percussion, as well as harmonic structures, while Zarin worked on drum arrangements, instrument selection, and suggested incorporating Lex Fridman’s podcast snippet."
“In a way, this EP is an attempt to explore both external reality—how time flows and transforms within it—and internal reality, the one we experience in dreams.”

Russia is an almost bottomless pit of talent just waiting to rise to the upper echelons of electronic music. Nechkin is one of these artists. A reduction specialist that can tell whole tales that last all night with just the most stripped back of sound palettes. Part of the Meduza crew there is little that cannot be accomplished by them and Nechkin is one of their most prized fighters.

At first listen his mix for our InSession series is immediately immersive. Expertly sewn together as if made from one piece of fabric. Then it becomes clear that all tracks featuring on this mix are all made by one person – Nechkin. Honed over years of insight and introspective travelling and quite a few lost weekends down the rabbit hole of clubbing in Moscow. Pitch black breaks square up against rumbling micro house and minimal this mix is not for the faint hearted. In a very good way. The best way.

At the start of the CULT.beat project, evenings were held in Odessa clubs on Thursdays and began with watching of art-house movies.  After a couple of hours, the visualization mechanism was launched, and everyone was smoothly immersed in the deeper and more thoughtful sound of a dance night with minimal, techno, micro house and many other styles and their combinations.  The quality of such immersion always depends on the perception of the world of music as a whole: visual, auditory, tactile, associative, sensitive and personal perception of what is happening by each of our guests and artists.
 We did 3D mapping, exhibited unique works of artists and professional photographers, mixed movie audio with electronic music, organized "silent parties", where all communication was limited to correspondence.  We invited musicians playing harp, zen flutes, bongos, stylophones, didgeridoo, violin, bandura, interweaving all this with intellectual techno, house and minimal.
 CULT.beat is a cultural and musical project, which is a series of art-video-dance evenings aimed at an intelligent and beautiful club audience.  The first party was held in Odessa in September 2008.  According to the results of voting in 2010 from the Topdj portal, the CULT.beat project entered the top ten best party projects in Ukraine.  By this time, we have already organized more than 50 events and show cases, invited musicians from Germany, France, Romania, Norway, Great Britain, Moldova, Italy, Spain, Japan, China, Switzerland and Canada, as well as the best Ukrainian DJs and producers.
 Residents and main "decorators" of musical productions of the project are Booch, El Gringo, Olympic Snow, Fred and Osvit.  They formed a musical worldview, created their own style of understanding, experimenting with the best artists and tasting new sounds.
 So CULT.beat has become a portal to the future.  We have expanded the boundaries, fertilized the soil for growth and taken a step forward. Yes, we launched our own label.  Now you have the opportunity to enjoy CULT.beat evenings in your playlist, listening to intellectual music on records and in the digital format.
 Despite all the metamorphoses, we retain our main core - experiments with video art, unusual thematic concepts and other manifestations of everything innovative and creative.  What other experiments lie ahead - even we do not know.e
