Since opening its doors in 2009, East London’s “big queer pleasure palace” Dalston Superstore has served as a multifaceted nexus point for the city’s LGBTQ+ club scene, offering everything from community events and vinyl workshops to drag brunch alongside notorious basement raves. 

Alongside a mix dedicated to the venue by @femmmefraiche co-founder @michelle-manetti, Kelly Doherty speaks to regulars, residents and co-founder Dan Beaumont about what makes Superstore so special, and how, in an increasingly fraught landscape, they keep the party going.

"This mix takes you through a blend of jungle building up to drum and bass at the end. I start at 145 BPM and gradually build up to 175 BPM because I love blending different styles and creating a journey through the music. Lately, I’ve been really inspired by the roots of jungle, especially the hardcore jungle sound from the early '90s. That’s the vibe I’ve gone for here—raw, energetic, with breaks, 4x4 kicks, high-pitched vocals, and heavy bass lines that just hit. Towards the end, I also bring in some soulful drum and bass, including my own track, “Something About You,” to wrap it all up. Hope you will enjoy the mix!"
