When I started producing Protagonist, it was supposed to be a trance song. First, I created a rolling bassline and some trance melodies but for some reason the track slowly evolved into a techno song, lol. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing!

The original melody and the bassline are there but not as prominent as they used to be. I chose this direction because the track simply worked better this way. In fact I was aiming for a similar style than my track Revolution but for this song it just didn’t work. 

All in all I’m glad I didn’t force this track to be a trance song because I absolutely like how it turned out to be. The drop melody is very punchy and powerful and the second drop introduces even more energy and variety. I think that the name Protagonist fits this song very well.

"Memories" is a song about that huge wave of regret we feel when we finally realize a relationship has absolutely ended and there’s no going back to save it. There’s suddenly a sense of clarity that hits and we can see clearly all the mistakes we’ve made, all the things we could have done differently, all the things we wish we could’ve changed sooner about ourselves to be a better partner but now it’s really too late.
