A Memory Fades Away

Mixed field recordings construct two tracks, two greatly different Cathedrals. The Listener is walking between them to discover that there are different forms of sanctity.

"Katedra" means "cathedral" in Lithuanian language so the album makes a prarallel between primeval Lithuanian forests that were considered sacred in old times and churches as the buildings of sanctity.

The first track of this the album is constructed by layering field recordings from one of such primeval forests that is located near town of Juodkrantė during the summer of 2021. The second track is made between summer of 2021 and first months of 2022 by synthesizing organ sound and mixing it with field recordings from couple of real world catholic churches.

From "A Memory of Dreams" I go further with my explorations of urban slumber. There is a series of tracks with field recordings from different cities of Europe. The first one is from Paris, sounds recorded in the summer of 2022.

In the track there is a layer heard from another track "A Dream of Whales in the Sky" which is deliberately pointing the intermixing of various memories in our dreams. So the part of a dream from one human can suddenly appear in a dream of another human in another place and in a very different circumstances. It looks like I will juggle around this idea for a while. 

Field recordings mixed with modular synth using my favorite add-on: part of the percussion fills and filtering are controlled by my heartbeat.

"Trolley Lullaby" - performance @ Studium P, Vilnius, 2023-10-03. Piece was performed with modular rig, Zoom R-24 sampler, Soma Ether and some DIY electroacoustic percussion instruments made from old trolleybus composters. As always for Current b-lectric project - parts of modulations and effects in modular synth were triggered by performer's pulse, which makes things more complicated and chaotic.

All sounds of full performance are made and performed by bB- (Benas Buivydas) except the song in the beginning of the piece, which is named "Kiki troleibusas" which was originaly performed by Lithuanian female vocal ensamble, led by Feliksas Viskanta.

Field recordings were made using stereo recorder, LOM Geofon low frequency mic and DIY contact mic. As a base layer there are also parts from recordings of two full trolleybus trips, that were made earlier this year:

- trolleybus No. 7 going from train station to Pašilaičiai (trolleybus Škoda 14 TR, made in 1984), recorded in June 2023, Vilnius

- trolleybus No. 7 going from Pašilaičiai to train station (trolleybus Solaris Trollino 15 AC, made in 2004), recorded in June 2023, Vilnius
