the sample i used is bad habit by steve lacy. i used the second half of the song (the unappreciated section of this wonderful track). Messed around with rhythmic space and rub a dub to get some interesting sounds from this track. this is version 2. version 1 sounded a bit softer on my car speakers

for this, i sampled kero kero bonito's song "time today". i always liked the synth textures especially visible at the very end of that song, so i played around with it for a while and after a long stretch of ideas and trying out some new effects (ableton's Amp is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here) came up with this odd, drone metal version. the art is a screenshot of the track art for a different song on the album which i felt kind of fit the mood. this more dissonant type of drone is new territory for me, so it was an interesting experience getting it to work.

you make somethin complex enough it sounds good and then ya get bored and ummmmmm make some jersey club pride smiley face (those drum pads allow for a LOT of sounds to be stored in all the octaves)

STS349Sauce - drummy bears (Assignment 4)

my assigned sound was "rain sounds"! after thinking about what rain sounds i'd use, i ended up remembering an old video i had taken on my phone. outside my house, a metal bowl had somehow positioned itself directly below the runoff water and was making a constant dripping sound that kept me awake until i filmed myself going outside and upturning it out of some bleary dissatisfaction with this bowl. i took the audio from that video and formed the atmosphere and percussion loop that's the baseline of this song. later, i found another rain recording i had and then added that in for texture.
