Cleaning up my computer and files I came across many tracks I've done in the past that are useless and horrible. Buuut I found a couple that I felt could work pretty well nowadays. Everyone is playing fast, so let's just go back in time to my hard drive 7 to 10 years ago and enjoy some 105 to 110 bpm tunes. Repetitive, groovy, heavy basslines and a good old snare.

Having previously taken a razor to J.W.B. Hits The Beat's Body On Body track on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX, Curses now turns his attention to the group’s House Fatale. Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elements of Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.

As part of his Next Wave Acid Punx series, Curses offers up his “Revamp” of Deborah Sasson’s (Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes, a curio from the wildly inventive mid late 80s that saw the American opera singer collaborate with German producers MCL (MicroChipLeague). A European chart topper on its original release, it's long since languished in obscurity, but in Curses' hands this mix of operatic vocals and raw house beats is now ready to add its more than a touch of melodrama to dancefloor's once again. 

"Hearing opera on the dance floor always hits me in a special way," explains Curses. "Decadent operatic vocals within decadent euphoric club environments just transports you to another time and place. When I first heard Danger In Her Eyes I was immediately inspired to make an edit that embraced that operatic escape but elevated the energy with harder drums and a proto-Trance EBM attitude like ate 80s early 90s releases from Manufacture, Interfront or BOY records.”

Sagia brings you the incredible Destinations EP, released on Natura Viva, 9th May, the London based producer and DJ back once again with her trademark style of spacious, energetic soundscapes, solid basslines and warm, rich vibes.

This EP is inspired by her travels. Sagia tells more: “Destinations’ came from being on the road so much these last few years. I’ve a weak spot for the nomadic feel of a US road trip. I’m really fascinated by the beauty of the Pacific Coast Highway.”

Down Highway 1, Sagia takes us to the famous Sunken City, south of LA, in Coastal San Pedro. A steady 4/4 is joined by a dreamy, nocturnal hi-synthline. Sagia brings it with a beautiful delay piano line with a stripped back bassline for company. “I was very inspired with life on the road and all that comes with it. ‘Sunken City is a magical spot at the southern coast of L.A. (also featured in ‘The Big Lebowski’)”
