Dina Summer is a collaborative project of producer Kalipo and DJ-producer couple Local Suicide. Local suicide is Greek native Dina P., one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki before moving to Berlin, where she met her husband and the other half of Local Suicide. The powerhouse couple made a name for themselves releasing music on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire and Ombra and have played a crucial part in the rise of the dark disco scene. Meanwhile, Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records and is part of the electro-punk band Frittenbude. Here he brings techno undertones to this unique project. Since 2019 the trio have been working together on a special blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave. Their first EP on Iptamenos Discos received widespread praise and received massive support from German radio alongside plays from The Hacker, Digitalism, and Arnaud Rebotini. This distinctive new album’s sound comes from two synthesisers and one microphone. Pounding disco beats under rattling bass sequences. It's a sound with roots in Italo disco classics, new wave and punk combined with electroclash of the noughties but now ready for summer 2022 from the beach to the club. Edgy beats meet striking melodies as perfectly poppy hooks are carried by Dina's unique voice on cuts like 'Mars', and fast, urgent grooves like 'Uranos' offer up fine synth craft. 'Revenge' blends cold revenge fantasies with an 80's inspired electro-pop sound reminiscent of feel-good movies of the era without falling into cliché. 'Zig Zag' races on rugged but colourful disco drums, and 'Mirage' has an intoxicating synth lead with flashes of cosmic brilliance. 'Wunderbar' is a heavy, off-balance stomper with German vocals and warped synths, and the majestic 'Amore' twitches your synapse with its pixelated synths and fast bass. 'Crocodile' is a giant disco pumper with edgy synth and vocal energy. The final and title track conjures up lazy summer vibes on a synthesiser amongst the palm leaves, with Dina's beguiling vocals adding extra escapist magic. With this brilliant new album, Dina Summer breaks with conventions and catapults us directly into a new decade of dark disco

For their 18th vinyl release, Hard Fist welcomes Guadalajara-based producers Vongold and Fargo Devianti in the family, including an impressive remix by Jennifer Cardini and Damon Jee.

Dj, producers and performers, the Mexican duo releases collabs on Correspondant, Hard Fist, Rotten City, Her Majesty’s Ship and more. Vongold is all about low-tempo dark disco, anxious lyrics over bass lines and hundred vocal gems ; while Fargo Devianti is a magician mixing guitars, synthesizers, drums and voodoo percussion.

“Taste of Butter” is their first full EP together. Vongold's haunted vocals stress Fargo Devianti hypnotic percussion. Together they create a psychedelic journey into mind landscapes with eclectic influences like avant-garde rock, post-punk, krautrock and darkwave sprinkled by psych-folk eastern melodies and ritual percussions. This EP is probably the most rock and new-wave oriented ever released on Hard Fist.

To conclude, Jennifer Cardini and Damon Jee brought a powerful remix influenced by Detroit's electro and breakbeat roots. Once mixed with the trippy sounds of the original version, it opens a fresh new door into the field of “dancefloor killer” music.

Espacio Cielo reaches it's 60th release with "Manteca", Marinelli's debut EP.

The Seville-based producer and deejay is well known for his work shaking the city's night scene, where he organizes various parties, as well as being a resident of the monthly "Electronic Lunch" festival.

After remixing bands like "Califato 3/4", in his first EP he shows his versatility as a producer, navigating between styles and surrounding himself with an A-team of remixers: Rigopolar, Alen Skanner, Lebollet, Moo Moonster & Parissior.

Marinelli - El Forastero [Espacio Cielo]

The saying “Don't judge a book by its cover” can be also applied to music. Some albums, EPs, and singles have amazing covers, but the music is just… bad – or vice-versa. Many are also the case in which both the artwork and the music are simply sublime – or both, a total train wreck. No, we are not going to mention any examples. You can do this mentally by yourself (just do it, it’s fun). Right now, we’d rather stick with the release premiered here: with a badass design and a stunning selection of seven dark-as-hell cuts, Marinelli's debut EP "Manteca", marks the 60th episode of the Oviedo-based powerhouse Espacio Cielo.

The man of the hour is a Seville-based DJ, producer, and promoter, quite well-known for his work shaking the city's nightlife scene: he organizes various parties and is a resident of the monthly "Electronic Lunch" festival. For his very first output, he teamed up with an AAA+ team of remixers: none other than Rigopolar, Alen Skanner, Lebollet (RASTROLIVE004), and Moo Moonster (SXDNS054/TAKEOVER002) & Parissior (SXDNS206/FREEDL043/TAKEOVER002). 

The track we were solicited to review comes from the creative mind of Alen Skanner, a rising Spanish artist with previous works published on Sharped Records and Ritmo Fatale. For his take on “El Forastero”, Alen did what he does best: infused the original with heavy doses of stamina in the shape of fat basslines and sturdy synth layers. The slight increase in the BPM (from 124 to 127) simply made things fit like a glove. Puro FUEGO!

It’s been a tough year for everyone, especially for the electronic music and artists in general, however, Madrid’s Logical Records have seized this opportunity to bring audiences something special and make important changes for the future.
Label bosses Mike Sacchetti and Ivan De La Rouch have decided to put together five magical tracks on what’s going to be the first V/A Vinyl/Digital Release from the imprint. “Meteors” is the name given to this story and it's where the main characters came together from different places around the globe to take us on a trip filled with dark hypnotic sounds and groovy beats.
Logical’s 72nd release counts with the contribution of well known faces in the electronic music contemporary scene such as: Mexican duo Zombies in Miami, Parisian artist La Mverte, Berlin-based music producers Local Suicide & Skelesys, Label bosses Mike & Ivan and Lyon’s heroes Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Raï.

Curses has brought his unique sound to iconic venues such at DC-10 and festivals like Nuits Sonores and Grauzone, as well his residency at Berlin’s infamous Pornceptual party. Hosting a Monthly radio show, Together Alone, on Rinse FM France, Curses has also released various EP's and singles with labels such as, Oráculo, Bordello a Parigi, Running Back, and Wrong Era.
Curses is responsible for curating the acclaimed vinyl compilation series and party, Next Wave Acid Punx, showcasing a passion for New Beat, Early E.B.M, Post-punk and obscure Italo, which continues to gain a passionate cult following worldwide, including multiple support from BBC Radio 6.

Curses continues to bring a romantic and punk energy to the club, threading the ethereal nostalgia of the 80s and 90s into the future of now.
