Hello and welcome to Tides Vol. 14. It’s been a while since I’ve made one of these mixes alongside a little written note and given them the attention they deserve within me, so if you are here and have listened and read my writings that pair with the other ones from the past, thank you dearly, some of them have really changed my life. If you are new, I hope you enjoy your stay. I generally like to focus on a concept that parallels the mix and how I am feeling at the time of creating the piece with my current life state. As we are closing the ties on another wild year and entering a new unknown, this edition focuses on the concepts of faith, belief, and trust. Faith is the “the evidence of things not seen, the substance of something hoped for”. With such a whirlwind of imbalance around the world over the last two years it’s been very troublesome to stay present and embrace trust and belief both inward and outward. While we understand that everything is always in a constant state of change, it is vital to push fear aside and hold on to an unwavering belief for the future, without living in it. Living in the past or living in the future is one of the greatest causes of self-anguish and I believe the only way to release that is through faith and belief with pure conviction. No matter what you desire in life for yourself, others, or general atmosphere, practicing trust and belief within yourself in the precise present moment is when dreams materialize. I’m a firm believer that human beings can consciously create any reality they desire, and without an undeniable portion of trust and belief in that recipe, no chosen reality develops healthily. We all want love, money, safety, health, and an abundance of many other things, but if you remove doubt and grasp nothing but inner trust and faith, your desire is already on its way to you. I personally have chosen a path that can come with heavy amounts of fear, comparison, mistrust, etc. and that has increased tenfold in recent times. Upon learning to hone in on your perspective of self belief, the rest will present itself to you and all you have to do is do the work. We are all met with massively different degrees of circumstances, yet without a rock solid belief system within ourselves, elevation to any degree is near impossible. I write this not to preach any sort of ideal, but rather as an altruistic idea to contemplate and share that me, you, us, can do and be anything we ever dream of. We all have our own unique belief systems, and one is not greater than the other, but we are all the same and we all deserve to be our best and happiest selves, however which way we arrive there.  Approaching a new year with new uncertainties demands heavy self belief and trust that things will and are happening for the better. Trusting in things not seen, and believing in ourselves that what we want we can have, loving ourselves and loving each other despite a wide range of differences, then love, magic, and happiness succeed. Much love to all the artists and their beautiful work for this special edition. I truly hope you enjoy Tides Vol. 14 and never stop believing in yourself and always remember to trust the Tides of the universe. I believe in you :)

Love Shadow

Delivering another selection of chill melodic cuts, Purified Records presents Purified Fragments XXIII. Crafting a scintillating soundscape with intricate percussion and smooth vocals, Adam Nazar’s ‘Omens’ sets the compilation’s tone. Flowing into Curt Reynold’s ‘Rolling Heart’, listeners are drawn into an instrumental arrangement that ebbs and flows with a steady groove. Closing the EP with Rïa Mehta, Sean Ae, Jack Willard’s ‘Moments’, the producers craft a sonic journey across different heights and textures, completed by Samanta Liza’s majestic vocals. 

The Fragments XXIII artwork highlights a photograph of a turtle, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Sea turtles are known for their long migrations, often traveling thousands of miles between feeding grounds and nesting beaches, as well as their critical role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems by grazing on seagrass and controlling jellyfish populations. Global citizens can help turtles by reducing plastic waste and keeping beaches clean, as turtles often mistake plastic for food and can get entangled in debris. Supporting conservation programs and protected nesting sites ensures turtles have safe environments to lay their eggs. Additionally, advocating for laws that reduce bycatch and implementing turtle-friendly fishing practices can significantly decrease the number of turtles accidentally caught in fishing gear. This new mix installment is dedicated to 2015. A wild and beaten journey of a year, with some of the most intense and eye-opening events I've encountered in my young artistic career. In 2015, I had 3+ different "jobs", began producing music, had my first role on a TV show, lost a close friend, lost my childhood dog, traveled far and wide, moved in with my bæ, made countless lifelong friendships, and drank a lot of tequila.

This specific mix has been tailored to reflect the tidal ebb and flows that a year of life brings. Ups and downs, back and forths, the feeling of movement without going anywhere, and the feeling of being stationary but trudging forward. Dancing all night with friends and driving solo down empty roads.

As the door closes on 2017 and 2018 is off to the races, I wanted to share a new Tides mix installment to get things off to the right start. 2017 was a bit of a challenge for me and granted me with some eye opening experiences. If 2017 was a learning year, then 2018 shall be the year of manifestation and putting what I’ve learned into action. I spent more time in the studio in 2017 than I had ever before, and I plan to grow on that in this new year. I plan to release more music and be better at it all around. I received so much beautiful support in 2017 and for that I am truly grateful, thank you all! This mix in particular showcases some melodic deep vibes that have a sort of drive that feels like action taking place. I’ve also incorporated some disco sounds as well to keep the dance party positive and free, the world could always use more of that. These are some tracks I’ve been playing out in my sets as well as just listening to in my earbuds - they are all fresh and new. I hope you enjoy each one as they mix and flow and accompany each other. I’m the most excited for this new journey of a year than I have been in a long time and I hope you are too, just remember to trust the tides of the universe. 2018 let’s do this!

Welcome to Tides Vol. 7 - our new year is here and in full effect and it's a commonality to think back and reflect on your previous year and past moments. This mix is inspired specifically by the idea of comparing and contrasting. These actions (whether physical, mental, etc.) can be our best friend and also our worst enemy. A double-edged sword, a two headed beast. We need to utilize them in a positive way to better our future-selves, but if we use them as a tool of corruption they can bring us to places where we'd rather not be. The tracks selected and mixed in this volume accompany each other in a sort of tug and pull sense in both directions - comparing and contrasting. Sometimes we must contrast our past selves with our future selves to enhance our life. Sometimes we must compare our actions with those who we look up to or aspire to. It's a tough line to walk but when done correctly we can find peace of mind and happiness. Keep changing and learning for the better, and remember to trust the Tides of the universe.

I am so happy and grateful to be back here with you presenting the newest installment of Tides. As always, I create these mixes during significant times in my life and I try to let my selection of songs and flow recognize that, and Volume 9 is no different. In this particular sonic journey, I am placing a heavy and vibrant focus on the concept of energy…the energy of the mind in particular. I have been recently studying and reading on ideas of higher consciousness and the importance of how we as humans direct our thoughts and mind’s energy. Everything in the universe is composed of varying degrees of vibration and energy and in that, energy never disappears, it is only transferred. In barely scratching the surface of this (since it goes deeper than we can ever imagine), I have recently begun to be conscious of such energy and it’s potential. The way you process, produce, and direct your energy can direct your life and all of the experience it brings. The limitless degrees of the energy we embody and evoke attract those of similar nature, so although it may seem at times your life may be spiraling out of grasp or in a time of bore, despair, or even pain, you have the full ability to alter your perspective and pivot your experience anyway you see fit. This of course is a very difficult skill that takes a lifetime (or more) of work, but as you begin to put in the work and be conscious of it, you will notice a world of difference. With that said, this particular concoction of beats and rhythms is an energetic flow of uplifting pieces of work that have lately been giving me uplifting energy in a time of change and new views. The pendulum swing of our Earth’s tides are merely vehicles for energy, and what goes, always returns, only to go again. I hope this mix inspires you to dive deeper into the workings of your being for the better, and remember to always trust the Tides of the universe.

Hello and welcome to Tides Vol. 11 from wherever you may be, I hope this mixtape finds you well. It’s been a few months since my last edition but as always, I like to give some thoughts on what helped create the current installment. Volume 10 focused on the concept of detachment, and since 2020 has been such an unforgiving year, this blended journey of music helps to illustrate the idea of change. Change is tough, but as the great Heraclitus said, “the only constant in life is change” and that couldn’t be more obvious in today’s environment. From the difficult modifications we face daily, or even hourly, to the more long-term, sprawling changes that overarch our linear experience of time, change affects each living thing on Earth and we all deal with it in our own unique ways. This past year has been quite a pivotal year for many of us because so much has been transforming in front of our eyes, and at times we feel like we have a loss of control. From our friendships to our bodies to our careers, all the way to the more larger aspects of social issues and how we interact and work together as one human race. I’d like to believe that change should always be needed and embraced, and is the only way to move forward for the better. We are in dire need of some major transitions universally and I believe that action and perseverance enhance the changes needed around us. More minutely, every cell in our body changes at every second of every day and it’s essential we understand that the impact of changes are always for the better. In a musical and artistic sense, I wanted to create a mix that inspires and supports the notion of change, whether big or small. We need all of this heavy remodeling and the challenging lows of our world right now need such changes to make room for more love and light and happiness. As far as artistic change, the work that is done is always oscillating and moving -- an experience of constant refinement via musical composition and artistic expression. I myself have been going through many drastic personal and artistic changes over the last few months, and so I’ve made sure to include two tracks from my “Changing EP” that is out 7/31/20, which I hope reflects that. As our personal realities change, we must maintain faith that it is all for the greater good, and expect that it is a part of our life experience that we cannot resist. Change is good and we must not fight it - it will always be happening whether we want it to or not - change is growth. I truly hope you enjoy Tides Vol. 11 and just like how the music in this mixtape and the experience we have on this planet is forever changing, always remember to trust the Tides of the Universe.
