Pimlico Stampede Session

Very excited about this one! Part 3 of 4 in this SoundCloud DJ mix series inspired by the sounds of Tomorrowland's Freedom Stage. The Rave//Reboot series is a DJ set series created, curated and mixed live by Calgary based DJ Tim Tasso in honour of the dance floor experience within the electronic dance scene and rave communities he grew up knowing.

This series seeks to explore and reboot the mixing style of the dance floor experience at big EDM events as an extended musical journey—something he felt was the essence of the Freedom Stage at Tomorrowland—by using the idea of courses in a fine dining dinner experience: L'Aperitif (The Pre), L'Entree (The Opener), Le Main (Peak Time), and Le Dessert (The Afterglow). If you listen to the 4 sets back to back, they should feel like a single 4 hour set but as individual courses they stand alone as a listening experience.

Le Main is the headlining, peak time set, and the hype of the night that the dance floor has been building up to. This is what the crowd and the audience came for tonally, as the vibe and genre they probably came for if it was an event—and in this series, it's all about techno. The ingredients: a big slab of hard techno, a drizzle of hyper techno, and topped off with some bouncier tech beats to keep you going even when you're resting.

On Monday 13th October, i was Pikes Secret DJ (with Dave Seaman) playing the legendary Freddie's club - a truly magical venue with an amazing crowd. I was playing first, and literally as soon as the doors opened at 11.30pm, the club was instantly full. Be able to play such a room, allows me to explore my housey side, and start off disco slanted, but with plenty of groove, and building up as the night continues to get hazy and even more magical.
