It's our pleasure to bring on the Paris-based Ourman to our DDD Guest Mix Series! 

Armand first started making dubstep around year 2015, but his musical background reaches early 2000s. Stemming from his experience, Ourman picked up a guitar and then seeped into instrumental music for many years.

Being influenced by the bands like Rage Against the Machine, Archive or Massive Attack, Armand was always open to exploring new genres. He was first introduced to dubstep during his university years and immediately connected with the energy this sound was bringing. He started producing a couple of years later with a growing passion for deep dubstep, filled with oriental samples, powerful bass lines and tribal rhythms.

Last year we embarked on a journey to the other side of the world to play some shows across Aotearoa / New Zealand. On a quiet evening in Otautahi / Christchurch, we headed to the beach with Tristan Truth, when Mike noticed a Fin Whale stuck on the sandbank, only a few hundred feet from the shore. We immediately hopped out of the vehicle and ran toward it. Coast Guard were called, and before long hundreds of onlookers had gathered to observe and pray for the majestic creature. We waited for hours, well into the night, but slowly realized that the emergency services were powerless to save the whale. 

The whale passed in the early hours of the following morning, and so we spent the next day writing a tribute to the animal and the impact the experience had on us all. 

This is “Kujira” - an ode to the whale, backed with “Parity”, another piece we wrote whilst in New Zealand. 

The hand drawn artwork, drawn entirely in dot-work by Adelaide Loake and printed at on Hahnemühle Bamboo 290gsm, is available from our store, and includes a free copy of the release. Limited to 30 copies only.

"In 2014, I was an F–18 Foxtrot pilot in the Navy Fighter Attack
Squadron 11, the Red Rippers, and I was stationed at NAS Oceana
in Virginia Beach. After upgrades were made to our jet’s radar systems, we began detecting unknown objects operating in our airspace. At first, we assumed they were radar errors but soon we began to correlate the radar tracks with multiple onboard sensors, including infrared systems, eventually through visual ID. During a training mission in Warning Area W–72, 10 miles off
the coast of Virginia Beach, two F–18 Super Hornets were split by a UAP. The object, described as a dark gray or a black cube inside of a clear sphere, came within 50 feet of the lead aircraft and was estimated to be five to 15 feet in diameter."
