This is a live all 45 mix made with one turntable and a loop pedal. It was constructed for Red Bull's 45 night on October 27 2008 in LA. This mix includes some cutting room floor ideas from The Hard Sell (DJ Shadow and I on 8 turntables and two loop pedals) and elements from what would later be part of my one turntable/loop pedal live mix CD "Sound Of The Police", which is out now.

Here is a cassette I found of scratch and dialogue ideas for what would be Lesson 6 the following year. Its crude and in real time meaning not edited for the A.D.D. impaired. Have fun with this time capsule as we celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Lesson 6: The Lecture.

Remastered for 2016 this release includes his Cut's mid-nineties opus in its original form from the original session multi-tracks with all elements intact. The original track itself is sometimes confused for the 1999 major label "watered down" rerelease. Also included is "Lesson 6: Instrumental (DIY Version)" minus the cuts and dialogue plus "Lesson 6: The Sketch" a raw and sometimes crude, unedited 15-minute practice tape that became the blueprint for this monumental lesson. 'Lesson 6' has become a spring board not only for the cut-n-paste style associated with Cut Chemist's approach to production but a feel for Jurassic 5's music as an eclectic and inventive whole.

"This is the demo version of the song Storm featuring Edan and Mr. Lif. 
In the 11th hour of making The Audience's Listening, I swapped the music out from this funky break beat to a psychedelic post punk drum machine.  At the time I was looking to reinvent myself and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to do so.  I couldn't be happier with how the final product turned out.  It's fun to go back and listen to what Edan and Lif actually recorded their verses to. This is more of a "classic" Cut Chemist production that one might recognize from the late 90s/early 2000s." -Cut Chemist

THE AUDIENCE'S FOLLOWING will be released on July 11th, 2016 on the ten year anniversary of Cut's debut album, THE AUDIENCE'S LISTENING.  This follow-up is filled with never before heard music, alternate versions, instrumentals and outtakes from the original 2006 session reels.

In 2002 I took my first trip to Brazil. I was given the opportunity to record live musicians to a composition of samples I had been sitting on for a few years. I would later carve these sessions into a composition known as The Garden. 
Here is the original session of musicians playing to the the sampled music before the song was fully realized.

In the last few months, I've been excavating old cassettes from the "Mom's House" era. This installment is a simple sample tape from 1993. Sample tapes are what I used to make in order to remember which loop ideas I liked as I listened to records I either just got or had sitting around for a while. Most are just one element. There are a couple of layered arrangements as well which means I had high hopes they would turn into something. Happy to say a couple of these samples found nice homes as you may recognize.
