A curated series where we commission artists to make an hour long mix of whatever inspires them to experiment, produce, and what they listen to.

Something different on the Mesh mix series this month, next up,  Kiara Scuro. The London based duo present their warm up set that raised and set the bar for the evening, recorded live from Phonox, London on Sat 14 August as part of Max Coopers' 4 nights at Phonox Residency. 

With guest shows on World Wide FM and Balamii Radio where they've showcased their tastes for varying genres and sounds from across the globe, and invited guests like Gilles Peterson and Mehmet Aslan to join them. Kiara Scuro are quickly becoming familar faces in some of the worlds most infuential and coverted clubs and festivals. Thanks to Rose and Nadia for contributing to the series!

‘We discovered Paola’s work last year and loved her approach to collage. Since then we’ve shared her artwork as part of our Balamii shows. She’s a Madrid-based artist who’s work is getting more and more deserved recognition lately - make sure you check her collages and support her if you can.’

Moby got his big break in the '90s when he released the hit "Go" followed by the hugely successful studio album Play, which has been included in countless movie and TV soundtracks. But beyond the limelight, the US artist has also gone through immense struggle. Raised in a working-class family in a wealthy part of Connecticut, he often felt displaced as a child, eventually moving to a disused factory space to make music before finally relocating to New York and trying his hand at being a DJ. 

In this interview, Moby reflects on the early days of his time in New York. Rejected from all the record labels he sent his demos to, he felt like an outsider, choosing to frequent clubs like The Loft and Paradise Garage before finally becoming a resident DJ at the now-defunct club Mars. He also talks about living with panic disorder, anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse, and how he's turned his life towards activism and animal rights. Listen to the episode in full.

Van Kost is based in Berlin and Founder of the Gleis 44 Club in the south of Germany. His playing style as well as his production style covers a very broad range from melodic techno, over groovy organic house to ambient, breakbeat and UK-techno influenced sounds. He is clearly an experimentalist and gets his energy from exploring new soundscapes.

East coast transplant @seanjaggy 's love for house music started at Smartbar during a memorable night at Queen in 2016. Since then Jaggy's gone on to play various venues and undergrounds in the city as well as jumpstarting Green Machine, a new and exciting party with a DIY ethos. 

Starting his musical journey in 2018 he started playing records at a local afters spot, embracing Chicago deep and jackin styles through his diligent digging at Gramaphone Records and consistent time hanging around Smartbar and other local house events. In more recent times, Jaggy has gone to push the pace, with faster styles such as Acid, Progressive and Tech forward tunes that work peak time dance floors. Beyond the booth, catch Jaggy curating events and collaborating with some of Chicago’s premiere underground collectives.

Jaggy mix: RISE vol 31

Free your mind, free your soul. LTJ n' Conrad  remind us why they're a class apart - lord have mercy, we aren't worthy.... All I can say is check the mix, check the mix, LTJ absolutely tears in up. If you know this set, you'll know the sound quality is shite and Conrad's way too loud, I re-leveled it and boosted the music and removed the hiss - it gets better after ~8mins. Deep, soul n jazz dnb at is best, music from the heart to heal the soul. 

This went out live of BBC OneXtra in May? 2005, live from club Detonate, Nottingham, UK.  If you know of a better version let me know, I searched high and low and could only find even worse copies.

This is the 2nd Mixtape that was made available in early '93 which was part of a set of tapes that were recorded live at the Deepeace/DiY NYE party at the end of '92. The party was in Marshfeild on the outskirts of Bath & If you were one of the thousands there I'm sure you will agree it was one of the most memorable NYE parties I've ever experienced!
This mix is me delving more into the progressive side of house that was about in the free party scene & the slightly harder edged U.S. house, although always coming back to that deeper jazz tinged groove that i loved. 
Re-mastered from original recordings with no gap for a full 90mins of unbroken music for your listening pleasure ...enjoy Mr M x
