Subkutan / Rerelease 2025

The very first track I did for the Project Codec & Flexor. In fact it was just a remix from an original track that was kind of electronic pop music. Flexor and I meet each other in a very small village and we played in a Indie-school-Band (I was still playing guitar at this time). After the band broke up, Flexor and I decided to keep on making music. At this time I started already producing techno and did several Live-Acts. The project was a lot more song orientated. I knew this is going to work if I am doing a remix. And so I did. The result was that track you are listening to.
I sent it to some record labels and we got immediately response and our first record deal. The track became a small „underground hit“ and was licensed various times (for example by Erol Alkan, totally unknown at this time). We started to tour as a live-act and did not stop for many years.

The track was released 2001 (to be honest 2000, we messed up with the date to make it feel more „now“ back in the days.)

The rehearsal room that is shown on the back of the record cover wasn’t our real rehearsal room. We built it up from scratch as the record company and the shooting location wasn’t at the place where we lived at that time. But the real one looked quite the same.

The b-side from our very first 12inch. I had to record and remaster the track, because the record was sold out before decades and the original production files don't exist anymore. None of the programs I produced that are fitting to any existing os. Nobody ever expected the record was hitting the clubs that much.
I did my best, but still there are some vinyl crackles and hisses on the track. 
We played that track as an opener for our live acts for a long time.

Never digital released track from our very first 12". We also played it never live, as it is a little bit to housey for the common clubs we played. In this track you can hear that the project was intentionally more a song orientated one. Although it is 20 years old, I think it is still listenable and transporting the feeling we had when we started our musical journey.

Slightly remastered version. Just a little more "mojo". More glued together, more ambiance and a little louder. Should fit better to actual playlists.

Basically a cut from a live performed idea. I really liked the percussion flow, so I thought maybe somebody else is enjoying it too. You should wear headphones. The track is all about playing around with stereo.

That track has only one task: make you dance in a very pushing, uncompromising and focused way. It did the job for me. Hope you enjoy it too.

First track I am quite satisfied with, after a new studio configuration. My Elektrons, the modular system and my DAW are more and more fusioning.

Hallo zusammen, es gibt eine neu gemasterte Version. Ich habe das eigentlich für mich privat gemacht, damit ich das selbst einfach besser anhören kann. Ich habe inhaltlich nichts geändert und es fällt nur im A/B-Vergleich auf, aber die Version ist etwas lauter und ein wenig räumlicher. 
Aber wirklich ganz, ganz dezent. Ich wollte, dass der Track etwas besser in aktuelle Playlists passt. Ist aktuell in den Spotlights oder direkt hier zu erreichen.

This track is the first one I’ve fully produced, properly mixed, and professionally mastered in a very long time. The idea behind it was to capture the organic energy of the dance floor, which I love so much, and which, in my opinion, is no longer achievable with today’s music and the pointless short sets of entertainment DJs. The track is meant to sound as if an organic being is breathing steadily, connecting everyone together, or like a giant tanker on which everyone is embarking on a grand journey together. The track is, in a way, monotonous and repetitive, yet on the other hand, organic and playful. I hope I was able to bring these intentions to life and that you’ll enjoy the track.

A remix of a track from Punx Soundcheck featuring vocals from Steve Strange. As Visages "Fade to grey" was one of my childhood memories I took the chance to work with the vocals. As I wanted to persevere as much as possible from the original, I tried just give it a twist. Let me know if you think it worked out.
I enjoyed the project, that's for sure.

First track I did after a break for almost 5 year. I was fed up with music biz and the "modern" common way to produce. Sitting behind a computer and feeling like I am doing an office job. I restarted doing music complete analog without any ambition of releasing, just playing around. This is the first track I did with this new setup.

Into music and sound since ever. Got a guitar at the age of 13 and played and learned till my fingers started bleeding. At the age of 17 I visited the Omen in Frankfurt/Germany. I was so impressed that I quit guitar and started sound research and raving through the clubs.
Got a record deal around the year 2000 and things evolved. Released various singles and LPs, got some acclaimed underground hits, travels the world and met a lot of my heroes of the youth in person. 
Wild times that took me across the planet and a lot of respected club. Played in the US, China, Georgia and all over Europe in countless cities and venues like, Tresor (Berlin), Cocoon (Frankfurt), U60311 (Frankfurt), White Rabbit (Hong Kong), Macumba and Low (Madrid), Loft, Moog, Zen Club (Barcelona), Batofar (Paris)... and festivals like BBK, Sonne, Mond und Sterne, Nature One, Street Parade, Loveparade, Grooveparade and so on and so on.

I was fed up with the industry and stopped producing (nearly completely) years ago. 
But still I am in love with music and sound. 

So here we go. Still searching for the perfect bass drum, the most flashing sound and connecting with nice people who love music as I do.
