Ten years down the road and The Black Heart Rebellion (T.B.H.R.) are still steadily evolving. Tribal influences are slowly permeating an irreversible change in T.B.H.R. who invite their audience to listen closely to their third studio album titled, People when you see the smoke, do not think it is fields they’re burning.

Every recording is an exercise that shares the research for what might be their next sound.  The new album is as much a snapshot of the present, as a prediction for the future of the band.  Where Har Nevo (2013) promised a golden land, the path of its successor is not without trial.  Har Nevo revealed a crossroad of possible outcomes, and in little more than a year T.B.H.R. found an answer.  New directions have found their way into their music, telling us that the search may never be over.

The elements that bound Har Nevo together have been dismantled and restored.  Born again in a more consistent ambient character, that may in the end replace the violent crash of cymbals and screeching distortion of guitars. The new album definitely marks an end of sorts, it is pointing towards something on the horizon, an image or a sound coming into being.

People, when you see the smoke, do not think it is fields they’re burning was recorded and mixed by Koen Gisen and mastered by Frederik Dejongh (Jerboa).  It will be released 23rd October on 9000 Records.

South Australian sonic titans Space Bong have just released their new single, 'Slow Spring', from their upcoming album Deadwood To Worms.

After many years of rehab, isolation and living off-grid, the lumbering doom/drone beast of Space Bong has awakened to unleash their long awaited follow up to 2009’s The Death of Utopia.

Entitled Deadwood To Worms, the new album showcases the evolution of Space Bong’s intense and focused form of doom, incorporating elements of sludge, black metal, stoner rock and darkest drone.

This is a doom record that transcends all that has come before it, seething with a bitter nihilism that longs for meaning and resolution in a world of violent chaos and urban decay.

Not willing to surrender to musical trends or outside influences, Space Bong have deliberately remained aloof of the inner doom scene circles, continuing to be outsiders amongst outsiders. Deadwood To Worms is modern in its eclecticism, yet raw in capturing the essence of what heavy music can be.

Space Bong's new single 'Slow Spring' is a meditation on the acceptance of life, death and the totality of experiences that come, go and come again. The self-abuse, violence and hatred that was so present on The Death of Utopia has simmered and settled, yet remains constant, if controlled. 

This is a piece of ritualistic doom drone at it's very finest.

Close to a decade ago a primitive form of Syndrome was brought to life as a vehicle for the solo output of Mathieu Vandekerckhove, mostly known for his work with Amenra,Kingdom,Sembler Deah,... For years the self-taught musician learned and studied his craft of songwriting and sound scaping, mainly as a means to self exploration, meditation and attempts at channelling negative into positive energy, this while staying below the surface at all times.

Now 2012 marks a turning point for Mathieu Vandekerckhove and Syndrome as he steps forward, with the epic 28 minute long "Now And Forever". Dedicated to his son Wolf, this track offers words of guidance and will grant you a look into the heart and soul of the artist. Close your eyes and hear the beating heart of pure artistic freedom.
