A new set from the ‘Before The Curfew’ series is up on SoundCloud. This set was played by tofudj on 18th of February at Ground Floor. 

tofudj is an artist from Poltava who has long made a name for himself as a fixture of Kyiv’s music scene. One of the pep gaffe label cofounders and Standard Deviation frequent collaborator, he is known for his uncompromising experimental sound, which he effortlessly combines with classic dance rhythms.

The series is updated on a weekly basis with recordings of sets that have been played in our space since the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Tune in and don't forget to support  the Ukrainian army, volunteer organizations and funds, including the ∄ Community Fund which continues to support volunteer initiatives from representatives of our community.

The final set in the ∄ 5th Anniversary Countdown series comes from our very first resident — Recid.

This performance was one of the final highlights of the summer and the Backyard 2024 season. It features abstract motifs that capture the moods of a wide range of musical styles, spanning from the '80s to the present day.

From 2009 to the present day, Recid has been an active figure in the Ukrainian electronic scene. Over the years of his musical practice, Recid has released music on such labels as Arts, Coincidence, Corridor Audio, Nicz та Standard Deviation.

Цей виступ артиста був одним із фінальних акордів літа та сезону Backyard 2024. В ньому можна знайти абстрактні мотиви, що представляють настрої найрізноманітніших музичних шкіл від 80-х до сьогодення.

A set by Aliana—Ukrainian producer and founder of the feminist party series Muza in Lviv—immerses us in pre-trance techno through records that have been waiting for a moment as special as the closing of Backyard.

Before the Curfew is a series of music podcasts that emerged in 2022 after the reopening of the club following the liberation of the Kyiv region. All recordings presented in this series take place before midnight before the curfew begins. Before the Curfew offers a vibrant snapshot of the Ukrainian music scene amidst challenging times, celebrating resilience, creativity, and unity through music.
