I was HOPING to get this out before v2, but I couldn't squeeze it out in time. Many such cases!
Nonetheless, this is probably one of my favorite covers I've ever done! BATW is such a catchy track and I loved being able to do my own take on it!
I think my favorite part of this one is the Lantern section, which I think is saying a lot because that section is probably my LEAST favorite part of the original. It's not bad by any means, of course, I just think it isn't as strong as the rest of the track. I think I managed to do it justice though!
Fun fact: originally, for the Lantern section, I was gonna have a complete tonal switch, where it changed to a super realistic piano VST (or maybe even a live performance...), but I couldn't find a way to integrate it smoothly enough into the rest of the song. Maybe one day we'll get the Live take!
Fun fact 2: I made a deliberate decision to not use the Chrono Trigger piano OR any orchestra hits in this track! Both great instruments, but I find that they're a bit overused in covers of this track and wanted to challenge myself to use some more unique instrumentation. It's a small thing but I think it made the track better overall.

They meet Manneton, a slightly deranged but seemingly well-intentioned salesman! As it turns out, he sells masks which —according to him — have magical properties that might be able to help the L.O.L. defeat Monarchess! However, before they can get their hands on the goods, THEY need to get something for HIM.

Years ago, Manneton's former business partner got a gig working for the Monarchess and turned on him, taking his prized personal mask. Ever since then, he hasn't let anyone look at his face, so Asriel and Co. need to recover the now-broken-and-scattered pieces of mask, bring them to Dexter for repair, then finally they can claim their prize from Manneton!

... What could possibly go wrong?
