In the early ages of the 2nd recorded millennia on the the planet known as "Earth" to the native alpha predators, a technological revolution took place.
Over the next few years, the "humans", as they call their species, was plunged into a world of interconnectedness, vast amounts of information, and, to them, incredibly sophisticated technology that not even 1% of them fully understood. 

It wasn't long until some of them, especially the thinkers and philosphers, started realizing that what they had foreseen as a distant future, was happening all around them at a rapidly increasing rate. For the first time, they had planet-wide systems for information sharing and communication, complete consensus, and many other of the Technologically Enabled Evolution Factors, all available to anyone with a miniature digital interface device that they used to call "phones".

Finally, after years of bloodshed, faux-governing tyranny, and general non-unity, they saw their species as one, and began pooling their resources in order to escape their gravity prison and travel to other "solar systems", which is what they called local mini clusters. However, while their technology evolved, the humans' biology did not. Many feared the future they where heading for, and took a stance towards it. Others embraced it with such enthusiasm that it became their downfall. With simulated realities, they could escape the hardships and despairs of a normal life, by entering cyberspace. 

They had entered the Cyber Paradigm.
