I'm fairly certain the cyberpunk saga is modeled after PRINCESS KAGUYA but placed in a cyberpunk environment, where PRINCESS KAGUYA never went home, but she brings her boyfriend to the moon, her home, via VR, since she can't bring him to the moon. In the edgerunners show they are literally showing us an alternate PRINCESS KAGUYA story where she stayed on Earth but still gets to go back to the moon via technology. pretty cool.
