The late great rapper Tupac Shakur once compared America’s city streets to death row. With violent murders of young, African-American and Hispanic men rapidly rising, poisonous drugs and gun stores on every other corner and prisoners of war held captive in private penitentiaries, the wise words of this slain voice of the people are just as powerful as they were when he first recited them almost two decades ago.

The latest mouthpiece to report from the front-lines of this urban war-zone is Tampa, Fla. rapper Soljah aka Soljah El Godd. With military-styled movements, he is preparing to spread the release of The Mtopian’s independent album S.O.L.J.A.H. Produced by in-house beat technician J.O. The well balanced album is definitely addictive and drugs to your eardrums.

Born the son of a Haitian father and American mom in Tampa and raised in the city’s Riverview Terrace Projects on the North side of town, young Soljah grew up as a confessed introvert. As a kid coming up, he was never really a people person but one who preferred to be alone or only with his closest friends.

He became interested in music and started rapping in the fourth grade, around the same time he purchased his first tape- Tupac’s 1994 album Thug Life, Vol. 1. “That tape totally inspired my whole life from that point on,” remembers Soljah. “It played a part in my life as far as religion, the way I live my life and mostly in my musicThrough the years, he honed his craft writing rhymes all through school and acquired the moniker Soljah, meaning ‘Spittin On Life Justice and Hustlin.’ Just a few short years ago, he launched his own label Da M-Topian, llc. and released the label’s debut single “Ms Alldawaylive” as a front man in the group Militant Military. A smash in the streets, clubs and radio across the region, the single quickly caught on through the South. And the group remains relevant with their recently released single “Go Jook City” featuring Tae Bae Bae.

However, with Soljahs infectious sound, industry experience and military mind state, money, fame and success are on the horizon for the rapidly rising star. And he continues to make major moves with his solo, hot, new single “Back Street Bandit.”
