Hamburg-based record label Unsure cue up their next extended player from Düsseldorf-based producer Stefan Schwander, operating this time as While My Sequencer Gently Bleeps...Our pick from the release is ‘Persona‘, a highly-arranged track composed of drunken polyrhythm dances from the rhythmic pulse of the sequencer, dubbed-out basslines and church-like chord progressions set the atmosphere ablaze. As the track unfurls, drum knocks echo like forest spirits on ecstasy, guiding listeners towards a late-night revelation where circuitry seizes the pulse and machines dictate the groove.

Mattias Östling makes a welcome return to Love Love as Rolando Simmons for new LP 'Animatronics' after recent forays on Analogical Force and Furthur Electronix and nearly 8 years on from his Love Love debut 'World Building'. Hailing from rural Sweden, Östling creates understated but rich and dreamlike productions which have seen him become a familiar name beyond the braindance circles his music first found a home in, playing live at venues in the UK like Fold and Houghton Festival.  
  
As is characteristic of Rolando Simmons' work, a strong sense of narrative runs throughout this LP. 'Animatronics' stylistically plays across the gamut of Electronica, from the lush, playful braindance of 2nd track 'Purple Soap', to the upbeat syncopated rhythms within 'GlobalGroove Dust Club', and the slowly advancing icy ambient techno dirge of closer 'Memory Defrost'. The ephemeral ambient elements laced throughout allude to a sense of comfortable sedation but darker shades no doubt loom beneath. Measured in its operation and warm in its presentation, the album often steers into unknown spaces, moving through a range of tonal shifts, all the while feeling contained within a unified and detailed imaginary world.

Rolando Simmons lives in a desolate coastal town of Sweden and divides his time between a creaky old townhouse and two rural homes. The dreamlike environment of meadows, grasslands, hills and lakes, combined with his fascination for Drexciya, AFX and Isao Tomita inspired Rolando to make this odd fairy tale music. 

Similar to his heroes, Rolando uses a bunch of hardware: Alisa 1387, MS-20, MC-4, SQ-1, Blofeld, Machinedrum, TX-7, 606, Poly-800, Filterbank 2, VSR-3 reverb which all ends up in Renoise. Other inspirations include Sibylle Baier, Jandek, Vashti Bunyan and Debussy.
