The songs for this album were written over a span of six years (2008-2014), and are expressions of our journey toward a greater understanding of the world and the bases of its declining state. When we hop up on our soapbox and preach so didactically, as we do in a few of these tracks, it's not because we are some immaculate angels or some fuckin' sinless messiahs. These messages are directed at us, ourselves, as well as every listener. Our intention is not simply to call out the draconian state and the free market dogma, or to call out those who have been so unfortunate as to have been swept up into the conspicuous consumption, status competition culture or the time-sucking hedonistic mindset. Rather, we simply hope to remind ourselves and the wonderful people like you who are willing to listen that things don't have to be the way they are currently, that there is something so much more for humanity, and that if we only aim for the gilded balconies, we will never reach any distant, brilliant galaxies, or even the mountaintops--where we can enjoy the majestic view and philosophize over tea pots while listening to the raindrops, reminding us of how we overcame and washed away the soul-rot. And I know it is a lot, to take in and maybe not, exactly what you're seeking, just don't forget that change can start with a single thought. The deleterious racism, the crushing patriarchy, the marginalizing hetero-normativity, the white-washed, commodification, consumption culture, the poisoned dying, natural world, the illusion of choice, freedom and democracy--all of these things, we reinforce and reproduce, and thus they continue to enslave our minds. Let's break the chains of both the master and the slave, refuse to play the game--there's so much we can gain... Thanks for listening!
