Basically about me surviving a lot off busking and couch surfing not too long ago. Its actually called The $5 Song because I got my first 5 dollar note for it when I played it busking in Cairns.

The $5 Song

On a ghastly hot day on Townsville, I couldn't help but develop a creative spark, urge or whatever you want to call it. So I took a borrowed guitar out the backyard of a house I was staying at, sat under a palm and went blank. For the longest time. Then the neighbours started fighting. So I literally started writing what was happening around me step by step. Writers block in the beginning, then simple observations and over hearing a couple squabbling began this song.

Wrote a Song

Basically addressing the fact that we all know how unfair, biased, corrupt, unjust and just how ugly the world is and can be. If someone genuinely doesn't know, they either live a very sheltered life or under a rock, but that's OK because I once was in the dark too. In any case, we must inform ourselves just the same.

There's a little street in Heatley, Townsville called Boyes Court, had a little reputation for itself. Where a lot of shit went down, a lot of highs among a lot of lows. Good times and bad. Parties, alcohol, drugs, police, gangs, violence, families. I lived in the thick of it. And when folks got stressed, there was always that Boyes Court Special.

Strangers Eyes

A song about my failed audition for the reality television pop show X Factor. A lame attempt I might add. A lot of things went wrong in my life leading up to the audition and a month afterwards. This led me to the realisation I wasn't ready, which then led me to the real truth. I didn't even want to be apart of it. As the years went by I was glad I didn't make it, and today I know my music is simply too real for a PG rated, staged talent show. Not forgetting the show produced great talent and amazing musicians, it just wasn't for me. Without that experience though, this song wouldn't have been written. So enjoy my song born from failure that evolved into a lesson.

Dream chasing. The only road I'm meant to travel. This life is ours, do what you do best. No hesitations, no waiting for perfections or right timings in an imperfect world where time Is against you. Passion, love, peace, live. Never shy away from opportunity, struggle for the positives, struggle for change, uplift yourself and the world around you. The story of life doesn't always have happy endings, the evil will always continue to grow and the good will always try to prevail.
