Some time back we reached out to the inter-verse and chased for fresh talent to long time join EA. We landed ourselves in an inbox of hell. Not doing that again in a hurry. Among the many many submissions was a chap called Jaswan whom I knew NOTHING about.

The music was crisp and had me thinking about the layers and textures.
This guy knew what was up.

After a successful first release Jaswan has been slowly crafting away to make the second instalment (this) and he has not let us down.

For the 6th release on the @prettyweirdrecords imprint, @chloerobinsondj enlists the architectural minds of @djadhdgotbngrz and @nikki-nair to return once more to the label with a two-track EP of peak-time proportions.

Nikki’s solo jaunt on ‘Startrack’ is a crossbreed love affair between acid and breakbeat, with crisp kicks and psychedelic loops that seem to be caught in an endless, hypnotic crescendo.

On ‘Rips’, the Knoxville producer is joined by DJ ADHD, who recently
made his debut after a diversification from his ALXZNDR alias. It’s all stripped back drum-patterns for this one, with lurching bass inflections and clipped vocal hollers that demonstrate the power of minimalism employed attentively.

The final result: two razor-sharp tools designed for primal bodies and responsive lighting.

Fresh from the release of his "Diaframma" EP on none other than the legendary Perlon label, we're extremely happy to have Italian-born, now Berlin-based Caruan back on our podcast series. After having had him on the Live Moments in 2019, the eclectic artist and Deset Records boss returns with an equally eclectic selection on this 1.5 hours mix, ranging from breaky electronic numbers to faster, sizzling rhythms and groovy house ballads. This mix is the 2nd part of Gaetano's set at the last Get Perlonized party which took place on the 4th of November at Hoppetosse in Berlin. As always happens, he decided to go vinyl only for this one, showcasing an excellent taste and also great mixing skills that led him to play numerous times in Venice's finest After Caposile, Dimensions Festival, Tenax, UNUM, and CDV just to name a few. Mathäus’ journey to electronic music is an interesting one. Starting out with EDM, he soon immersed himself in more discerning sounds, to the point where he is now fully concerned with more exquisite and sophisticated sounds. A native of São Paulo in Brazil, he now lives in Dublin, Ireland, a city that’s quickly left an impression on his tastes. Besides this, he’s also been making use of Ireland’s geographical location by visiting gigs around Europe - most recently Ricardo Villalobos’ 20th anniversary session at London institution, fabric. 

Mathäus’ own sounds bear the hallmarks of a producer confident in his approach. Heavily influenced by groove and minimal, he namechecks long-time favourites of ours such as Mihai Popoviciu and Cab Drivers as favourites, and definitely shares their penchant for class and eclecticism. What’s more he’s also released already on the likes of Conceptual Records, Chichi Music, Farmat and Worst Date Records.

Cynosure Recordings is a minimal house and techno label founded in 1999 by Canadian DJ/Producer Mike Shannon. Cynosure was one of the imprints responsible for a wave of minimal house and techno emerging from Canada at the turn of 2000. The sound of the label is always mutating and expanding never being pigeon holed into one specific formula. However, the funk and swing has always managed to permeate every release within the labels back catalogue. 

Now based in Berlin, having moved on from it’s original home of Toronto -and later it’s adopted home of Montreal for many years- Shannon increasingly figures as one of global techno's pacesetters as well; just witness the label's consistent flow of sharp dance-floor bound house and techno over the years, from artists like Uruguay’s duo Monoblock, US Tech-House legend Brett Johnson and Canadian talents Adam Marshall and Deadbeat, just to name a few. Although these days Cynosure resides next to many influences in the techno metropolis of Berlin, it kept a clear vision to remain headstrong and continues to support the underground sound from which its very essence was born.
