Cyphon Recordings welcome DJ, producer, musician, and D.KO co-owner Flabaire for the fourth outing on the label. At just 29, the Parisian artist - real name Ralph Maruani - already has a fair share of victories under his belt. On his acclaimed D.KO imprint, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, he’s released three albums and several EPs, as well as charting releases for Organic-Music, Deeppa Records and South Street. On top of his solo pursuits, you can find him playing bass with five-piece house band Secret Value Orchestra, and more recently he’s been exploring his formative love of psych-rock with his Aboukir project and readying a second album.

For his next solo EP, he brings his beautifully affecting and nostalgic blend of electro, IDM, and deep house to Cyphon. If there’s one thing Flabaire knows a thing or two about, it’s creating music that’s full of emotion and atmosphere, and that’s exactly what he does on ‘Entre-Deux’. Wasting no time pulling at heartstrings, on opener ‘In Between’ he layers an electro drum beat over lush pads that beckon an iridescent synth line to rise up out of the haze. At the half-way mark a cowbell swings into action and the pads swell and glisten, making way for a squelchy 303 to bubble underneath the surface. ‘No Minding’ moves into softer realms, giving us a moment for contemplation. A serene blend of deep house and electronica, it’s paced by a warm bass bounce and shuffling percussion sprinkled with chopped vocal samples and bright keys.

Flabaire’s bass mastery continues on ‘Click Plok’, as does his deftness at producing delicate, gliding pads, which this time are punctuated by tight bleeps, gentle open hats and a meandering synth solo. The atmosphere is still just as palpable on closing track ‘FBG’. A balmy syncopated groove leads the charge, joined harmoniously by twinkling synth melodies that dance over dusty breakbeats and hushed vocal stutters.

Leeds based duo Rkyv bring the fire for the third digital release on Sonaré Music, with a four track EP, including a remix from the amazingly talented Laura Jones. The EP takes the Sonaré collective to a much deeper and darker place than previous releases, bringing more diversity and variation to their imprint.

Inside (Original mix)
This is a huge track from the duo which is sure to smash dance floors everywhere, with a deep emotional main room vocal, accompanied with some lovely house chords and atmospheric builds, driven on by its skippy breaks style drums & percussion.

Inside (Laura Jones remix)
A truly outstanding remix from Laura Jones. A remix that ouse's class, with a breaks style feel to the drums and percussion running parallel with a dynamic subby bass and relentless groove, fit for any dance floor.

Behind you (Original mix)
A dark minimal production with industrial techno elements, which takes you on a timeless journey full of atmospheric builds and FX, powered by a driving sub-bass and deep vocal elements, Rkyv really show their dark side on this one.

Running man (Original mix)
A journey through space and time with the downtempo laidback melodic-breaks/house track, which brings an almost relaxing electronic journey. This track delivers hypnotic atmospheric sounds with a soothing chilled vocal, riding along with that skippy drum and percussion arrangement that is synonymous with the other tracks on the EP.

After several months, we land with the ninth edition programmed by Morgana Parel, a Peruvian artist who brings us acid and introspective sounds designed for moments of hypnosis in the club, two original tracks with a lot of intensity that are added to a reconstruction by Inés Duarte, who from Portugal brings us a spacey and spicy version such as chimichurri.
Happy to connect with female artists on the planet and bring them once again an eclectic release musically, useful for different track moods.

Low Recordings welcomes Glo Phase with a hazy & dreamy journey through sound.

 The EP kicks off with "Left Bank," immersing the listener in a dreamy, hazy sonic landscape. Drifting bass lines, subtly evocative keys reminiscent of sirens, a gentle kick, and a grounded snare keep us swaying and grooving as the track unfolds. Suddenly, a flourish of keys, an echoed clap, and a delicate vocal embellishment remind us that there's much more to explore in this evolving world that Glo Phase meticulously crafts. These flourishes are the signature elements that define the unique universe he's constructing for us.

 Next, he leads us into a fresh auditory realm titled "Ancient Shift." The droning sounds persist throughout the track, with keys, bassline, and drum beats shining through, playfully inviting our ears to engage with them. This seamlessly paves the way to the closing track of "Hidden Harbor."

 "Hidden Harbor" serves as the perfect exit from Glo Phase's crafted world. It exudes subtlety, and the steady beat of the kick drum provides an impeccable segue out of the immersive realm he's built. The keys gently ebb and flow until they bid us a gradual farewell.

Cyphon Recordings is a new label with one foot in the past and another in the present. The UK-based platform will pay homage to the formative electronic sounds of the mid 90s, whilst also looking firmly to the future in its ethos, music policy and roster.

Taking cues from electro, abstract electronica, IDM and Detroit-inspired futurism, Cyphon will present exciting new music filtered through the lens of that golden era of DIY home recording and bedroom production, which helped pave the way for electronic music today.

Though these influences will form the backbone of the label’s output, it will take a free-form approach to curation, remaining open to embracing far-reaching strains of electronic music that reflect the same attitude as their predecessors. 

Working with both established and emerging names, Cyphon aims to carve out a space for artists to create without boundaries or borders, whilst helping to support the artistic development of the next generation of producers coming up through the ranks. 

The visual aspect will also play a key role in the label’s mission. The physical and digital releases will be immortalised through eye-catching retro electro aesthetics that will bring life to the music behind the sleeves.

Cyphon’s journey is only just starting, buckle up and join the ride.
