Cyrano decants his debut single “White Wine” - Out March 24th

Cyrano’s debut single White Wine is one of immediate friendship; on fleeting moments with consequential strangers who shift your worldview in one late-night conversation. The track celebrates those spontaneous hours of connection with people who enter your life, at just the right moment.

Dreamt up in his bedroom, the London based producer and multi-instrumentalist crafted White Wine in the twilight hours, soundtracking late nights and long drives home from the studio.

Teaming up on production with Oli Barton-Wood, whose credits include Nilüfer Yanya, James Blake and Blaenavon, the track also boasts notable collaborations with Jazzi Bobbi on sax and BVs, and Leif Erikson’s Sam Johnston on guitar. Cyrano takes the lead on vocals, while playing Rhodes to his MPC beats.

Cyrano is the medium for sharing the music and words that for years have been for only the artist himself, echoing the theme of the play Cyrano de Bergerac - the inspiration behind the project.

It’s the evenings that Cyrano feels most creative. In his own words, “there’s something quite alluring about those early hours; the ambience and tranquillity provides a soft focus, away from the modern-day distractions of the world’s routine. I’m forever chasing the hours of night when time becomes elastic and I lose myself in the space of sound.”

This is Cyrano’s debut, having been premiered on Jess Iszatt’s BBC Introducing radio show. Alongside a UK tour with Leif Erikson, 2021 will see an exciting and diverse range of material to follow, including his debut EP, Consolations.

To celebrate this release, Cyrano has partnered with Garçon Wines to design a limited edition, carbon conscious bottle of white wine. The collaboration personifies the track, reminding you to reach out to those you miss.

White Wine is a testament to graft, perseverance and a dream realised.

Cyrano transcends with atmospheric new single "Collateral" - Out September 3rd

Collateral is indie for dusk - a coming of age track embodying themes of independence, introspection, and the subconscious mind. Co-produced with Foals’ percussionist Kit Monteith, Cyrano has crafted a late-night ballad that builds to an ending any band would be proud of.

Fusing the sounds of Japanese taiko drums, lo-fi guitar and floating synths, Cyrano’s confident vocal guides Collateral to an emphatic close. The track began in response to hearing Jai Paul’s Str8 Outta Mumbai while lyrically, Cyrano takes inspiration from Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club.
 
“Collateral has always felt like one big epiphany to me. Like Fight Club, the lyrics are meant to be a shared conversation with both a lover and with myself. It’s about those feelings of reliance and dependency on someone else, while striving for independence and autonomy over oneself. I wanted to personify those parallels in the structure, moving from verse - chorus to chorus – verse, and ending with a moment of self-actualisation.” – Cyrano

While 2021 will see Cyrano embark on a UK tour with Leif Erikson, Collateral marks the second instalment from Cyrano’s forthcoming EP, Consolations. The single follows on from his recent afterparty anthem Tundra, which saw the Scottish producer achieve a second consecutive Hype Machine Number 1 and named The Scotland on Sunday’s Artist of the Week.

"Tundra" continues Cyrano's journey through late night tranquility - Out July 16th 

Cyrano welcomes listeners into the idiosyncrasies of his indie for dusk with new single Tundra: an honest exploration of social anxiety, personified in left-field beats with electronic soul. Consoling us with the constant lyrical mantra “but I’ve never really lost my mind”, the Scottish producer and multi-instrumentalist reminds us to battle on when things feel like they’re falling apart.

Sharing the production duties with Foals’ Kit Monteith, the pair experiment with the sounds of artists like Arab Strap, J Dilla and Young Fathers to carry us through multiple genres, from 90s techno to 00s hip hop.

While Cyrano’s voice confidently glides within melodic tapestries, eclectic samples combine with heavy beats to leave the listener in sonic hypnosis.

“I wanted to make a track so chaotic, that could mirror the oscillating and often unpredictable feeling of social anxiety, and the journey it can take you on. Our aim was to break our beats and the norms of a song structure to keep things as irrational as life itself when these feelings arise.” - Cyrano

Cyrano celebrated the release of his debut single “White Wine” by collaborating with Garçon Wines, personifying the track in a limited-edition flat bottle of wine which sold out in just half an hour. As well as landing a Hype Machine Number 1, the track received strong support from BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio.

Cyrano shares debut EP 'Consolations' including vulnerable new single ‘Plaster’ - Out November 12th

After releasing three Hype Machine Number 1 singles already this year, and being named Artist of the Week by The Scotland on Sunday, Edinburgh based producer and multi-instrumentalist Cyrano shines on his debut 4 track EP, Consolations.

In 2021, Cyrano quickly established himself as the soundtrack to late nights and long drives. Co-produced alongside Foals’ Kit Monteith and Luke Smith (FKA Twigs, Keaton Henson), Consolations carries us through multiple genres, fusing elements of ambient techno, 00s hip hop and left-field pop.

While its sonic influences range from Arthur Russell to D’Angelo, Bon Iver to Talk Talk, the concept behind the EP was inspired by Alain de Botton’s book “The Consolations of Philosophy”. Finding the book consoling for its discussion on ancient philosophers’ outlook on life’s various struggles, and their remedies for coping, Cyrano knew he wanted to write a body of work that could lift people in the same way.

On Consolations, Cyrano discusses similar themes - from anxiety and depression, to love and growing older. Each track is written with the aim of consoling the listener, and the tracklisting follows the arc of a night, from dusk until dawn.

Opening the EP is Tundra; an honest exploration of social anxiety, personified in leftfield beats with electronic soul. While Cyrano’s voice confidently glides within melodic tapestries, eclectic samples combine with heavy beats to leave the listener in sonic hypnosis.

Plaster will accompany the EP release, jumping straight into the sea of turbulent vulnerability. Inspired by The National’s Matt Berninger lyrical milieu, Cyrano explains, 

“Plaster is probably me at my most vulnerable, but I think that’s why it’s one of my favourite songs I've written. The first line “Locke halts; he’s got my head in a river drawn out starting to shiver” describes a moment in counselling where I felt completely broken. Locke is someone I owe a lot to for pulling me through, and Plaster is for anyone struggling and an admission of strength through weakness. As difficult as life can feel, there’ll be a moment where you come through, towel dry and seeing the past in hindsight.”

Collateral is a journey of self-actualisation. In response to Jai Paul’s ‘Str8 Outta Mumbai’ and taking notes from Chuck Palahniuk’s ‘Fight Club’, the song fuses Japanese taiko drums with lo-fi guitars. There’s a duality to the lyrics, which feel like a conversation with a lover, but are really an internal dialogue with oneself.

Latest single Afterburns closes the EP. The process of writing the meditative and dreamy track became a kind of therapy for Cyrano, as he laments the indecision in his relationship at the time. Released as a double single, Cyrano also created a 12-question personality test for listeners to identify if the Introverted or Extroverted mix of the track is best suited to them.

Cyrano’s fifth and final consolation is the EP artwork itself - a photo of constellations to encapsulate the idea that the universe is so much bigger than ourselves, so we should remember to enjoy life for what it is.
