This past summer, I fasted during the month of Ramadan to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community. The experience allowed me to reconnect with God and my spiritual self. Summer in NYC is probably the craziest time to fast because there's so much temptation around and so many opportunities to break the fast.

During my fast, I decided to compose and arrange a symphony as a way to document my experience and express the thoughts and feelings that surfaced as it related my personal life and the world around me.

Blending elements of Jazz, Gospel, Trap and Classical music, I created a cohesive, introspective piece along with a few close friends (@jonathandely on trumpet, @DSchwo on keys and guitar, @doctorchicago on keys) who agreed to also fast while working on this piece.

The symphony has been completed and untouched since mid-July, but given the current state of the world, something in my soul compelled me to share it with the world. While you go on to enjoy the holidays with your families, remember that life is precious and embrace those close to you.

I wanted to remind folks to appreciate the simple things in life but to also understand that life itself is not so simple and I'm trying to figure it out just like everyone else.

It's my birthday. Just turned 24. Times are hard even though I've already completed college and had 9-5 jobs. I'm now at the point where I have to take care of mama and I know a 9-5 isn't gonna let me me achieve and grow to the degree I want. All I have is music and it requires me to be in and of world. I make music for the people and I need to be fully engaged with sending my musical message from storytelling through my production to the delivery of my words. 

Shouts to Kanye for encouraging me to believe and spark change. It's now my time to blossom and start paying it forward.
