Hitting multiple milestones with his "One Side of the Underground" series, Rick Pier O'Neil returns with a fourth volume that includes three originals and remixes from UK and Greek mainstays.

A celebrated trio responsible for a host of high-profile releases on an array of labels including their own Kunai Records and Mistique Music imprints, "The Sinner" sees Rick Pier O'Neil and Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic join forces on a deep and dark progressive offering that revels in rolling bass groove and driving rhythm. A rich array of melodic layers evolve effortlessly through the piece, swimming across the left-right spectrum as breathy vocal phrases juxtapose against an overdriven bass motif with sinister authority. "Votan" continues the driving beat of the opener adding intricate percussive cadence and hypnotic bassline power. White-noise washes add a sense of space before of reverb-laden and delay-drenched motif joins a swathe of textured pads. Pitch-bent analogue bass notes add further intrigue in the breakdown and third movement to devasting effect in a wonderfully atmospheric track. The immediate dancefloor rhythms of "Ixchel" provide the perfect framework for light and airy melodic phrases to sweep across the mid-range with ease. Coupled to a smooth and free-flowing lead line and syncopated arpeggio, the track is a cleverly orchestrated piece of sonic craftsmanship.

A regular on Proton Music with a raft of original music including 2017's full-length album, "In the Ether", James Monro has been dining at underground dance music's top table for many years. 2013's "Fonik", 2015's "Nectar" and January 2020's "Drift" EP have all highlighted Monro's remarkable attention to detail and devastating dancefloor power, honed from decades spent behind the decks at clubs and festivals across the globe. Returning to the label after February's remix of Subconscious Tales, James Monro has taken "Manipulation" on an extraordinary progressive breaks trip that acts as a time-machine to the halcyon days of the genre with its pulsating and rasping bassline and symphonic landscape that delights with texture, energy and emotion in abundance. Cleverly reinterpreting O'Neil's original, James Monro has succeeded in reinventing a sound that will resonate with a huge range of listeners through its stuttered breakbeat rhythms, raw power and melodic intrigue.

Savvas is another artist requiring little introduction to the Proton Music and Particles faithful. The Chicago born, Greek based artist has featured regularly on the latter since August 2017's remix of Michael A, before September 2019's "Mindfulness" EP saw a pair of originals accompanied by remixes from Imran Khan and Izzet. A single remix of Erdi Irmak's "Nothing Lasts" represents the Savvas contribution to Proton Music as he now follows up with a smooth and hypnotic reinterpretation of "Earth Mover". A framework of grooved bassline and ticking percussive groove combine effortlessly with O'Neil's original elements before a glassy and delayed arpeggiated motif ripples across the 9-minute track. Building through layers of counterpoint melody and sumptuous effects, the result is a brilliantly contemplative remix.

'The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Simos Tagias back to the label for a new EP entitled 'Molecular'. The Greek artist has become a mainstay of the label roster with this being his eleventh appearance. As one of the most recognized names in progressive house, the Athens resident has showcased his music on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beatfreak Recordings and Sound Avenue. 2020 has once again been a fruitful year for Simos, already notching releases on Proton Music and UV. Now fresh off a remix for Clubsonica Records, Simos makes a welcome return to Movement Recordings with a three-track artist showcase.

Beginning with the title selection Simos explores his progressive roots with a warm, groovy creation that's sure to get your dance floor moving. Waves of undulating bass power the foundation while clattering percussion and cosmic effects surround the framework. Racing towards the main break, electric rhythms and luminous themes steal the air, perfectly setting up a tense centrepiece and exhilarating finale.

'Running Over Me' follows with a further lean towards astral techno territory. Rugged and rhythmic in all the right ways, fiery percussion and spaced out tones descend over the rippling foundation, as an indie-inspired vocal drops in for a magic moment. Expanding across a one-minute centrepiece, the vocal sits at the emotional core of the track, elevating mood before eventually getting washed away in a trail of astral sonics and punishing beats.

Rounding out the release is 'The Shamen' which finds Simos exploring another unique amalgamation of progressive house and techno.  Backed by a buoyant and well contoured groove, it's bounce and drive quickly become infectious. Billowing stabs and trailing effects offset each other nicely, as romping rhythms build momentum across the first act. Vocal fragments strike at opportune moments, adding additional depth as layers of sonic artefacts saturate your senses during a dramatic final movement. It rounds out a superb return to Movement Recordings for Simos Tagias, who is most certainly operating at a creative peak here.'

D-FORMATION is Dimas Carbajo, the owner and main exponent of BEATFREAK GROUP, a business alliance which is proud to include, among many others, the first Spanish record label of underground electronic music , BEATFREAK RECORDINGS, which has been conveying this national music style to the entire planet since 1997.

With over 25 years in his career path, both in worldwide booths and music studios in his role as a producer, D-FORMATION is one of the most respected electronic music artists across the world. Proof of that is his album 'MADRID' for YOSHITOSHI, (Deep Dish's label), which was launched in one of the most prestigious compilation series of the industry, being the only Spanish artist featured in it so far.

When he was barely 17 years old, he was awarded the first prize of the Spanish DMC DJ championship for two consecutive times (see file) and as from that time onwards his work was indefatigable not only as a megamixer for numerous Spanish multinational music companies, but also travelling around the entire country with his DMC gigs.

When he was only 23 years, one of his ever greatest projects came about and that was founding his first record label, MD RECORDS, which revolutionized the then electronic music market and positioned itself as the best Spanish label with the best electronic music for many years.

In 2003, driven by the professional need of giving a change not only to his career, but also to his own music style, the great artistic evolution came into being and with which he continues to work these days: D-FORMATION.

As from that moment onwards, his rise as a DJ and producer was and continues to be unstoppable, achieving and securing the recognition and support of the great majority of the underground industry from Tech and Progressive House to Trance itself. And all that was due to those melodic tinges, intrinsic and inherent to his tracks, which delighted and made wonders with artists such as Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo or Deep Dish, which also enabled him to work for important record labels like Sony Music, Virgin Records, EMI, Beatfreak, Tusom, Toolroom, Yoshitoshi, Frequenza, Nervous, Twisted, CR2, Stereo Productions, Monique Musique or Baroque.

Numerous prizes as a DJ and as a producer granted by the industry vouch for all those years of his professional career, although it is noteworthy his #39 position in the Top 100 DJs of the prestigious DJMAG magazine, the highest ranking that a Spanish DJ has ever achieved (see file).

Nowadays he combines his work at the studio with an almost permanent tour across the best festivals and events in the entire world such as Space, Amnesia, Privilege or Pacha in Ibiza, Ageha and Womb (Tokyo), Zouk Club (Singapore), Pacha Cielo (New York), Stereo (Montreal) Sirena (Brazil), Ministry Of Sound (London), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Queen (Paris), Pacha Sharm (Egypt), Space (Miami), Avalon (Los Angeles), Space of Sound or Fabrik (Madrid), SOS Club, Cindirella Club, Absolut Club, Feelnet Club (China), Evil Club (Seoul) or Stadium Club (Jakarta), at which he has shared the booth with as renowned artists as Marco Carola, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Loco Dice, Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Lawler, Dubfire, Nic Fanchulli, Chus & Ceballos, Dave Clarke, Layo & Bushwacka, Sharam, Victor Calderone, Technasia, Michel De Hey, Booka Shade or Umek.
