Core Get Physical artist Ben Hoo has mixed the label’s superb Ibiza 2018 compilation featuring 17 new and exclusive tracks that are sure to be the sound of summer.

The compilation comes one week after Hoo releases two of his own tracks from it on a standalone EP, entitled ‘An Expanse’. They once again showed off his accomplished sound, which draws on his background as a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Hoo is behind the ‘We Are Night People’ radioshow on Ibiza Sonica, he also mixed last year’s Ibiza compilation and lives on the White Isle so firmly has his finger on the pulse of contemporary beats and the feel of the island.

'Note Repeat' sees Driven (alias VIL) in loopy housey dub techno mode, while Pandilla LTD strip things down for 'Smop', an exercise in regimented percussion and modulating effects. On the flip, 'Bom É Lá No Meio' has Luhk (alias Zoy) getting craftier in a style reminiscent of vintage Akufen, before Carpet boss Jorge Caiado rounds things up on 'Gingko', recalling tobias. at his housiest and, going further back, classic Chez n Trent.

The uber-talented Romanian DJ and producer Mihai Popovicu is considered one of the most innovative eastern European producers of electronic music today and finally returns to Poker Flat Recordings once again. 

Continuing his rich vein of form into 2019, the Understand EP drops soon after his collaboration with James Dexter, and once again shows why he's well worth getting excited about. 

First up on this release is 'Inside Me', which underlines Popoviciu's perfect understanding of how to create rich and thick grooves from a minimum of sources. The track bumps and rolls, helped along by a deep, evolving bass lead that will undoubtedly get rinsed all over the summer. 

Similarly, 'Understand' keeps the vibe - a heavy tech house hitter with some classic feeling stabs and nice vocal snippets.
