DRUM N BASS SHOW ON GLR 20/8/22

For this installment I didn't go in with any particular plan or direction other than I wanted to start off playing some deeper quirkier stuff I added into my collection recently that for some reason or another never made it on to any show tracklists. Most of the first hour is pretty deep but then I bring in some punchier beats. Some dubby ragga rollers I got from Deekline, some grittier melodic rollers around the hour mark before settling into a techy/ sci-fi/ liquid groove for the second hour. Lots of vibey vocal tunes towards the end. I'm still trying to diagnose an issue with my microphone I thought I had figured out last week, so bear with me. Bio
Tally G (San Diego), behind the decks off and on for the past two decades, is known
for her diversity as a (mostly) drum and bass DJ, seamlessly blending jungle,
footwork, juke, and neurofunk, among other subgenres, most notably deep, dark,
techy minimal DnB. Every set is a journey, told through a combination of long,
thoughtful transitions, skillfully quick mixing, and energetic double drops guaranteed
to get bodies moving and gun fingers popping. She is one half of Hologynic and one
half of Tex n Bass. She holds residencies with Boomslang Recordings (USDNB), Siren
Project (NYC), Proper Chicago, The Distinguished (CO), Syncopation (AZ), and THC Kru
(USDNB) and is the co-founder of El Paso’s DNBtherapy Drum and Bass. Tally G is also
on the board of directors for Siren Project, an all female-identifying collective
dedicated to providing safe spaces for trans-, non-binary, and cis-women performers
who raise funds for various nonprofit organizations. She has played around the United
States and is currently learning music production.

It was nice to be back in the saddle for EP 99 of LLL this week. First hour started out on a somewhat airy atmospheric tip into futuristic "sci fi rollers" and some minimal tech stuff. Moving into the second hour we go from minimal to more driving dancefloor tunes. Spacey electro rave vibes make way for some chopped future jungle kinda stuff at the end. D:RC came up DJing (mostly drum'nbass) in the mid-90s while attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. As founding member of the local Phungus, Playtheavy and Sleuth Empire crews he found himself at the center of a burgeoning rave scene, collaborating with friends on dance music events in the Athens/Atlanta areas and beyond.

In 2004 he founded Studio:Machina, a graphic design practice geared towards the music industry. Building on his behind the scenes expertise and keen artistic instincts he's become an in-demand contributor on artistic projects in a variety of media. He's toured the US as member of the Smookie Illson bass music trio, serves as creative director for the Chicago-based Illeven:Eleven Recordings label and functions as brand/art director of several nightlife concepts. 

Behind the decks he currently heavily favors the sounds of DNB, but brief forays into breakbeat, house, UK Garage + Bass and dubstep are not uncommon. Get to know.
