In the week leading up to this LLL session I had gone back to listen to some of my recent recordings. I decided I wanted to change up the formula I'd been following, which recently has involved a ton of minimal tech. I do love playing that stuff, but this week I opted for a more analog sort of "classic" approach to the liquid sound. More of a "summer sound". Lots of deep, jazzy rollers, chunky drums, rhodes keys. Some ragga vocals, some jungle, some atmospheric rollers. It's all in the mix. Tons of fun with the LLL crew in the chat this week.

Darcii"s Bio:
DarciiDarka is a Drum and Bass DJ originally from New England.  As a viny DJ in the early 2000’s, she gained a lot of experience from playing at underground raves and venues all over New England, New York and Montreal. Hosting several residencies in Burlington, VT over the years, she’s been strictly Drum and Bass since the beginning. In the past year after a short break from performing and then moving to Florida, the music was calling her back. She has since quickly gained recognition for her smooth and intricate mixing style and fierce track selections. Her professionalism and respect for the genre has led her to be seen all over the south recently throwing down fire sets at events from Savannah to New Orleans. She showcases her unique perspective within the genre by creatively and fluidly mixing all styles of dnb, favoring rollers, deep DNB and neurofunk. Currently she hosts Frequency Fridays at Signal in Gainesville, Florida as resident DJ, partnered with 808 mates. In her earlier years Darcii has shared the stage with DNB legends Cause 4 Concern, Raiden, Dieselboy, AK 1200, Danny the Wildchild and Odi…just to name a few. This fall she will be opening for the legendary Roni Size in New Orleans. Darcii’s passion for DNB is evident when she is on stage, her mixing speaks for itself, taking you on a journey through darkness into the light. Darcii"s latest endeavor is joining Theoryon Records Drum & Bass division. With many collaborations and projects in the works, stay tuned for so much more to come from this loyal junglist soldier. Her momentum is unstoppable, talent undeniable and love for drum and bass truly insatiable.

Been working long days and have had less time to  keep up with new releases but I snagged some tunes on Saturday and had some cool different stuff to play. Started off lush, deep and running into some wobbly bassline rollers and  synth heavy type stuff that I don't usually play that much. Some techy stuff and some jungle in the second hour ending into some uplifting rollers. Awesome vibe in the chat again. Fun Saturday session.

This is a very special 1 hour DJ Mix I created in May 2019 that was released as "A Journey Through the Unknown." This was my first promo DJ mix since my long hiatus away from the decks for over a decade while I was producing the festival Earthdance Florida and other events. I created this mix during a time when I recently heard halftime bass music and it inspired me to blend Jungle, DNB, and Halftime together to take my listeners on an unpredictable journey through the unknown. D:RC came up DJing (mostly drum'nbass) in the mid-90s while attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. As founding member of the local Phungus, Playtheavy and Sleuth Empire crews he found himself at the center of a burgeoning rave scene, collaborating with friends on dance music events in the Athens/Atlanta areas and beyond.

In 2004 he founded Studio:Machina, a graphic design practice geared towards the music industry. Building on his behind the scenes expertise and keen artistic instincts he's become an in-demand contributor on artistic projects in a variety of media. He's toured the US as member of the Smookie Illson bass music trio, serves as creative director for the Chicago-based Illeven:Eleven Recordings label and functions as brand/art director of several nightlife concepts. 

Behind the decks he currently heavily favors the sounds of DNB, but brief forays into breakbeat, house, UK Garage + Bass and dubstep are not uncommon. Get to know.
