For a moment towards the end of this 2 hour stream I panicked when the screen on my MacBook went black and I realized Rekordbox had crashed, because in my mind this meant that this recording would be lost. Unbeknownst to me there's an auto-save function that preserves a copy I was able to retrieve after rebooting the software. The ending here is a little abrupt but the set is mostly all there!

Seems like at 90 odd episodes in I figured out that people apparently like... dancefloor DNB? 😑🤣  After last week's high energy stream I noticed people really responded when I brought up the intensity levels so I decided to try the same trick again this week by pushing the energy up at the end instead of going down (which is how I usually end a stream).  Perhaps unsurprisingly, people went apeshit with the emotes and bits and we got another Hype Train going (until the somewhat unfortunate RB crash put and end to that madness lmao)

All in all, a good time was had by all. My favorite parts are still the more nuanced and quiet parts in the first hour, but I personally like a little bit of everything and I like giving people what they want to hear... It's what a DJ does.

Today's sesh was kind of a jumping back and forth through some older folders supplemented with a big grip of new stuff acquired in the last week. Some key tracks I used to play a couple of years ago that I kinda forgot about made an appearance. Started mellow and deep but rolling, moved through some chunky amen liquid into some jungle and atmospheric sounds halfway. Second hour leans a little techy but not too dark; still got plenty of groovy stuff in. Chat room was dope with the homies. It was a Saturday for vibin'!

Resident Sessions Vol. 8 'Still Breathin' (Sw3rv3 - Mobile Unit) Live DnB Session

This sesh has a little bit of everything. Because of a busy work week I didn't have all that much time to hunt down a bunch of new music. I still fit a good amount in here, balanced out by some classic favorites of mine and picks from the last couple of years that maybe didn't get a lot of spins from me at the time. Things start on a soulful /jazzy liquid note into some more driving, chunky classic-style liquid about 45 minutes in. Second hour is more on a dub roller vibe mixed with some minimal tech rollers ending with some uplifting vibe stuff at the end where I kept playing a bit longer waiting to raid @doughdj's channel. Good crowd in the chat this week and happy spring vibes (at least for us in Georgia). Thanks to my LLL crew for coming through, catch you guys on the next one!

Liquid Lovers Lounge (EP93|MAR04|2023)

For this particular session I didn't have much of an advance plan or direction but things still seemed to end up on the jazzy/soulful side of the spectrum for a good amount of the first hour. It was a nice crisp spring day in Georgia so I suppose that's pretty appropriate. Some cool deeper/melodic new music got played in that hour before I amped the energy up a bit around the one hour mark. Second hour I settled into a slightly darker dub roller type sound, mixed with some angular minimal and tech rollers. By the end I ended back down into some deeper sci-fi liquid and soulful rollers to close it out. Fun sesh, good vibes as always. S/O to my loyal LLL crew always representing and the few new followers who came on board this week!

D:RC came up DJing (mostly drum'nbass) in the mid-90s while attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. As founding member of the local Phungus, Playtheavy and Sleuth Empire crews he found himself at the center of a burgeoning rave scene, collaborating with friends on dance music events in the Athens/Atlanta areas and beyond.

In 2004 he founded Studio:Machina, a graphic design practice geared towards the music industry. Building on his behind the scenes expertise and keen artistic instincts he's become an in-demand contributor on artistic projects in a variety of media. He's toured the US as member of the Smookie Illson bass music trio, serves as creative director for the Chicago-based Illeven:Eleven Recordings label and functions as brand/art director of several nightlife concepts. 

Behind the decks he currently heavily favors the sounds of DNB, but brief forays into breakbeat, house, UK Garage + Bass and dubstep are not uncommon. Get to know.
