Welcoming Barcelona's EYRA to the 909 series with a glorious, summery mix that channels the fever dream that is summer in the city whilst also channeling the varying soundscapes you can find at his POLYGLOT party. It's a pretty unique mix for the series as EYRA recorded straight from his CDJ onto a cassette to give it this raw and nostalgic feel.

EYRA is the creative outlet for Oliver Pereira’s leftfield-leaning, dancefloor focused productions. Born in the UK, the Barcelona based artist’s sound is rooted in bass heavy British music culture, however his style is forward thinking, adventurous and inventive throughout. Over the last few years, EYRA has released on the likes of Accidental Meetings and Abundance as well as a self-released EP, 'Voices Pt. 1', earlier this year. Outside of his productions, EYRA co-runs the POLYGLOT party series with his friend muck which was launched just over a year ago to provide an open and accessible space of great music and build a community with it. I was lucky enough to be in Barcelona at the time of POLYGLOT last March which was early in their formation and you could already feel that really sick community feel at the party where everyone was there for the love of music. So far they've booked the likes of Soft Chaos, DJ SOSA RD, Adrasha, i-sha, Mani Tapes and more. EYRA is also involved in the local creative collective Abundance. Get to know!

Scant presents Vitiate for Psychic Liberation. After nearly two decades of singular output in solo, collaborative, and curatorial capacities throughout the United States Scant arrives with his most pointed recorded material to date. As a stalwart of the 2000’s noise culture architecture along the eastern United States, Scant’s artistry has pressurized listening environments from gutters to theaters. As Scant, Matthew Boettke has stretched temporal capacities and initiated enveloping sonic experiences where volume is a physical meditative body. With Vitiate, through three recorded passages Scant trades the caustic frontal walls of aural stasis of his previous output for masterfully surgical digital synthesis of an utmost minimalist caliber. Of the process around cultivation of the recording, Boettke notes:

“VITIATE was recorded throughout the final days inside Apartment 202*. A reflection on cherished moments that soured, this is an attempt to immortalize and eradicate a core identity. Comfort betrays exclusively, familiarity breeds only weakness. What we are compelled to reach towards forever pushes back.”

Where so much of the contemporary discussion around Ambient music takes on an ecclesiastical bend, or a modal vocabulary that turns towards the hopeful, Vitiate operates in the dirge and dramatics of the deflated. Vitiate wraps you inside of it’s subtle modulations and tonal turns, but inside that reverberant embrace one sits dissociative and hollowed. This is not an album for the positive moment of Reverie, but for a reflection on inevitable stasis.

Scant is the alias of experimental musician Matt Boettke based out of New York City. He is a founding member of Thousands of Dead Gods, a record label in Brooklyn which previously operated a cassette focused record store from 2017-2022. Through his work as Scant he has produced over 30 limited edition tapes and CDs for American underground labels such as Chondritic Sound and Monorail Trespassing, while self-releasing through the Dead Gods imprint. Apart from solo recordings he has contributed to extensive collaborations with Justin Lakes (Shredded Nerve/Dead Gods), Stefan Aune (New Forces), Rodger Stella, and Nick Klein amongst others. As a curator, Boettke has been instrumental to the organization of several DIY experimental music festivals including Avant Fairfax and RVA Noise Fest in Virginia, and Summer Scum in New York.

Soda Gong is pleased to present a razor sharp collection of rigorous and imaginative new music from Moscow-by-way-of-St. Petersburg-based musician and producer Flaty. “Generic TARGZ” places Flaty’s precipitously complex drum programming and keen ear for atmosphere and space at the forefront, offering up a dynamic array of techno, ambient, generative footwork, and other tougher to pigeonhole rhythmic experiments. It is a dizzying and cohesive document in which ethereal productions, such as “Praaai” wherein a bewitching vocal pad hovers over delicate, pin-prick percussion, sit comfortably alongside tightly controlled chaos, as with the synapse-knotting "Thread" and heavy-hitting “Horn of Plenty.” Over the past few years, Flaty has released a wealth of diverse and uniformly excellent music under monikers such as AEM Rhythm Cascade, Dada Ques, and Wrong Water. He is most closely associated with the influential GOST ZVUK label, but his work has also appeared on imprints such as 12th Isle, Muscut, and his own ANWO Records. Although Flaty serves as his primary alias, "Generic TARGZ" is only the artist's second full-length under the moniker, following 2016's "New Suggestions," a high-water mark in the impeccable GOST ZVUK catalog. Mastered by Rashad Becker at D&M.
