Melbourne folk icons, The Maes release their new single Make a Baby in time for Mother’s Day this Sunday. Maggie and Elsie Rigby are not mothers, nor do they plan to be any time soon. The song, penned by band vocalist and mandolin player Elsie Rigby, playfully, delightedly asks the question “Hey Baby, why don’t we make a baby?”. A question which has been asked and a decision which has been made undoubtedly billions of times. Yet still from the perspective of non-parents the question has an absurd ring to it on account of the enormous life change it implies.
