We release Phil Strucks album NNO on February 23.

Phil is a experimental recording artist, who also works as a photographer, documenting the contemporary, experimental electronic music scene and life around it. His music is based on sampling from odd sound sources, random data streams and the usage of microphones and various synthesizer. Phil ennobles the trivial, honors the silence and creates an experimental collection of raw textural ambiance. It could’ve been a matter of trompe-l’oeil, a mere juxtaposition of audio signs to mimic functionality, but there’s a much more vibrant and fluid quality to his mind-expanding pieces. He is living in Hamburg, Germany.

Worst Records' hall of fame welcomes new faces around the pool for a 13-stages enlightened drama. You'll meet again with the top 3 podium made of A Strange Wedding, Jacques Satre and Christian Coiffure, all rensponsible for our first three releases, building up a mesmerizing, out of season mental workout. Extending the dimension of trance towards Saint-Etienne, Del.Duc brings on a curious yet serene astral travel, and we can also count on the distant reinforcements from the Toulouse Gouffre Club crew with Jan Loup and her glitch spangled hazy dub from far futures and the new trance comer from Bordeaux, Lazuli.
Special friends are also gathering here, as Myako is sewing on thin fabric a vaporous dub in shades of grey, the one-and-only master touki Théo Muller delivers a cinematic remedy to confinement.
Liberation through hearing, it is, as borders explode with the presence of many : Yin Yang Audio in a transatlantic IDM/break jump, Forest on Stasys (aka Mental Resonance) and his tough shamanic dance, Clemens Friedrich slowing down all senses at once and JEANS, boss of Oracle Bones, speeding us up in the hyperloop.
Finally, as teamwork means a lot, we have given the pleasure to open this compilation to the four-headed Lausanne/Freiberg hydra 4POTR and their cryptic transdimensional message, and the honor of closing this pool party to the 404 trio gem from Candoblé with a fine piece of wonder.

Not exactly your usual summer compilation, nor the hits you could imagine, but surely the music you'll need under the hot sun of 2020.

Under a title adapted from Huxley’s pivotal tome on C.20th psychedelia and mind-expansion, on ‘Doors of Proprioception - Articulation’ Novo Line shifts his interests from the noirish, filmic fixations of his ‘Autobahn Zwei’ and ‘To Qatsi And Die In LA’ tapes, to a more profound expression of ideas about “meta-cognition” and awareness of the body’s movement and position within space. The project crucially features research input from artist and yogi, Mathilde Fenoll, and Hélène Tharrault, a yoga teacher and acrobat, who both helped firm up the album’s overlapping interests in mind-body-spirit syncopation, with Mathilde’s voice also appearing as a sampler-mangled mantra, while the pair also plan contribute to the project’s performance iterations in the post-lockdown world.  

The two pieces serve to conceptually resonate with, and deepen Novo Line’s references to ancient, Pythagorean tunings, as found on his breakthrough side ‘Movements’ (2016) and its follow-up ‘Dyad’ (2017), but switch their aesthetic touchstones from Belgian and German New Beat to a finer elision of Japanese Butoh’s slow, brutal elegance, with the contoured gradients of ’80s synth soundtracks and New Age ambient. In effect, these references lend a looser conception of meter and space to the music, practically manifesting its impetus to mindfully heighten and align the listener’s kinaesthetic awareness and “observe the appropriate balance of tensing and relaxing” as suggested by Butoh expert, Vangeline in their book ‘BUTOH: Cradling Empty Space’. 

Most vitally, in the mesmerising style of all Novo Line’s work, and for all its lofty references, this is music that will be felt in your bones and is bound to perplex the mind with its deeply insightful application of ancient, affective tunings known to stimulate altered states of consciousness. In other words it’s a proper Aerobic Mystics special, blessed with Novo Line’s patented blend of absorbing esoteric nuance and a pop-wise appeal.

In 2020 Cosmo Rhythmatic released ‘Rakka,’ which presented Sasu Ripatti’s glorious return to his most famous alias: Vladislav Delay. Nonetheless, the album contents made it evident that this eventual comeback was not intended as a revival. Ripatti was reactivating the project and a steadfast evolution in its sound, a new approach to both the emotional and environmental characteristics of electronic composition.

The inspiration for this new course was given to Ripatti by a series of ventures into the wilderness of his native Finland, confronting “The raw, undefined, uncontrolled and uncorrupted power that exists within it.” The result is a hyperbolic, extreme ecosystem of sound populated by fast-moving drones, dense clouds on noise, and tectonic bass rumbles with hints of harmony birthed by harsh tonal contrasts. The sheer intensity of the music was only matched by the rigor of its craft.

2021 sees the coming of the second chapter in that very same journey. ‘Rakka II,’ once more on Cosmo Rhythmatic and made of that very same impassioned matter. Tho while on the first one, Ripatti seemed intent to portray the elemental forces as free, unabashed, and unconstrained by musical structures, here he appears to compile some of it in beats and progressions that have something in common with the wildest sides of dance music. It’s like consciousness tuning in with the non-human after struggling with its apparent distance and hostility, accepting its uncoded structures, and finally finding a common language for reconciliation.

As Ripatti puts it, Rakka II is a romantic summer vision full of hope and optimism;  after the brutalist vibes on the first one, the storm has passed and skies are clearing. 
Rakka II is ultimately another masterful achievement in an already stellar career and an unquiet blast of energy for chaotic times.
