A different kind of carol for a different kind of jilted generation.

All Sega Genesis, no samples. Started this at 12:36:44, ended up taking most of the recommended time. I think it was worth it though.

Took a break from the darker music to revisit this classic from my childhood.  Written by Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos, popularized by Norah Jones, and now re-imagined in this th4 D34D arrangement as a classic Sonic style jam.

Track I made for a BattleOfTheBits battle, but ended up having to use an alternate version without the directx fx.  This version sounds a bit more intense of course haha.  IT with directx fx applied for eq+distortion+reverb

Bad For Education (Good For Health)

Made a holiday track yesterday with the ol' Roland Sound Canvas!

Made another holiday themed song for this winter, this time for the PC-9801 sound chip!  Much like the Sega Genesis, except with a built in drum kit that I utilized.  Not the most amazing proprietary drum samples, but they got the job done and freed up all the psg and FM channels!

The Calabi-Yau Manifold

So this was a crazy collab that Street Cleaner and I did a while back.  I hadn't been playing guitar much, and got so into this recording that I ended up with some badical blisters! (peep the photo)   I laid down a few synths on top of what he had sent me and recorded the gnarly guitar shredding, and quickly fell in love with this track!  I.M.O. this is the best collab we ever did (and of course, his final version and mix doesn't do my parts justice ...says the guitar player XD )

Anyway, I sent him the tracks, but he ended up having a computer crash and losing all of his files, so he rebuilt his final version of the track from scratch.  This is actually the original files, but here's where the story takes an extra turn.  Shortly after this I had my own HDD crash and lost all of the files myself (and I had deleted all of the stems from drop box).  So, unfortunately I can't continue to mix this, but I don't think it needs any extra dramatic mixing and mastering for the style anyway.  Hope you guys enjoy this unearthed gem as much as I do!

Street Cleaner - Never Again (D34D's Guitar Shred MiX)

Some sick Castlevania-ish inspired track that turned out to sound kind of like an 80's Russian track, ha ha.  Look for the bonus version of this track that uses realistic instruments instead of the chip instruments!

Hoiiii!  Well I wanted to see what legit drum n bass would sound like with an old Sega/Yamaha FM chip, so I went ahead and made this little diddy on the ym2151.  As only my fourth attempt at writing a song in a tracker, I feel that it came out pretty decent.  Next time I will have to try it on the ym2612 chip for an added challenge!  LoL

Another entry into my Sentai theme song remakes!  This one features a cool solo and some sick percussive bumps from the sega master Jredd!  Made in Deflemask using the Ym2612 engine.

Another track from the Winter Chip XII at battle of the bits.  This is also one I expected to place higher, and easily contends as my favorite of the tracks I submitted.

Rephlexive

Finally getting around to posting my winning Winter Chip XII track!  It technically took second place to a piece of artwork, but was the top music submission, and won a bunch of first place awards in different categories, so I can't complain.  ;D

Made in Deflemask using the ym2612 engine.  All sounds were made by me from scratch, no patches other than the bells which I custom modified from a patch.

Did this quick project last night as a little FM sound design study.  All sounds are my own sound design , other than the DAC drum samples, in FM and PSG.  Made in deflemask.

Blood Of Expiation

I made all of the sounds, from scratch for this, except for the cymbals/hats and a few break-fills.

The synth I used for everything is the Ableton stock synth, Operator, which takes 4 FM operators/oscillators and adds some wicked subtractive and additive synth capabilities on top. I used a few 3rd party plugins for some things in the track, but most of this is stock Ableton, so I decided to throw together a sound pack with some of the cool synths, basses, and the drum kick/snare sounds! Aside from the patches, there are also 4 wav files I bounced of different Snares and a heavy, clicky Kick (for those who don't have Ableton).
