Old Songs

I was having some trouble writing lyrics, the subjects seemed a bit young for me, and so I had a listen to some older singers stuff to see if I could find ideas that I was comfortable with. I came up with this song about an old friend that was dying. My songs can take a while to write, record, rerecord, listen and go again, and this song took a couple of months to get good enough. Just at that moment a friend called me to tell me he had a brain tumour. So I decided to leave the song and do other things. The timing was not right. His funeral was a couple of days ago and so I decided that now was the time to release it.

I started this song as an exercise analysing Taylor Swift. I know it doesn't sound very Taylor Swift, but that wasn't the point. It has some of the track building strategies that I took notice of. Hope you like it.

Eyes Can't See

I have been writing since I was 18 and have performed, a long time ago. I now live in the reality that my voice is not what it once was and it constantly irritates me, just as I have a great idea for a melody. I would love to be able to sing better, probably one of the reasons I like to listen to boy bands, who, no matter what your feelings about their contribution to art, are very good singers; every single one of them. I so wish that I could sing like that, but I can not, but that never stops me from trying. I have no ambitions other than to enjoy what I do, and I do what I like, no matter what! If you like it, great, if you don't then thanks for giving it a try.
