Produced off the back of a profoundly inspiring trip to his homeland last year, Luigi Madonna crafts the pin-sharp ‘Italian Shocks’ EP. The Amsterdam-based artist is a key Drumcode contributor, who runs the label off the back of last year’s well-received collaborative EP ‘Mad World’ with Roberto Capuano. 

The title track is brain-spangling, industrial and brilliant, characterised by a suspenseful narrative, which is typical of Madonna’s creativity in the studio. ‘This is the Future’ is crisp and rolling, an intelligent tool for every set. ‘Enveloping Times’ is punchy and hypnotic, an immense transcendental belter ready to be unleashed this summer. ‘Interfrequencies’ is an exhilarating rush to the head, as a killer bass synth and piston-like drums for a rave-ready finish.

Following the success of the duo’s ‘Forte’ album earlier this year, Pan-Pot’s highly esteemed Second State label is thrilled to announce the release of the 13th edition of the ‘SUM’ various artist compilation. As a celebration of Techno music, this compilation showcases the genre’s finest, promising to leave a lasting impression on enthusiasts worldwide.

The tracklist, curated with precision, features a diverse range of artists, each contributing unique sounds that encapsulate the soul of techno music. The compilation initiates with the pulsating energy of “Warehouse Impulse” by Audio State, setting a high-octane tone from the outset. Ben Champell’s “Give Me That” follows, with its raw and powerful sound captivating listeners. The hypnotic journey continues with “Basic Instinct” by Bruce Zalcer, showcasing intricate melodies and driving rhythm. EARLIEST MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
I have very vivid memories of the road trips my family used to have when I was a little kid, either going to the beach or to the countryside, or even abroad, on which my father was always blasting stuff like The Beatles, Iron Butterfly, or Phil Collins, he used to bang his fingers on the dashboard of the car doing the infamous drum fill on “In The Air Tonight”. His passion for music really struck me, this intensity of listening to amazing music loud and finger drumming on the wheel and dashboard was so contagious, it simply shaped my whole life. Crazy…it’s the simple things...
