Julian Jeweil lands on Christian Smith’s Tronic label on Monday 5th December with his remix of the label-head’s ‘Initiate Sequence’. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of the rework above.

The original track is taken from Smith’s third solo album ‘Inut/Output’, which also landed via Tronic earlier this year. For his remix, Jeweil pairs his trademark destructive low end with searing claps to destructive effect.

Jeweil’s cut comes as part of a remix package that also includes material from Kenny Glasgow, Kaiserdisco and Victor Ruiz.

LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. A work 12 months in the making, Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX deliver a standout EP debut.

The Italian pair – living at the extreme opposites of their country’s ‘boot’ will be new names to the Drumcode faithful. They first appeared on the label in December 2020, with a strong contribution to A-Sides Vol.10 titled ‘Expanders’. 

So impressed was Adam Beyer with their productions, a fulsome debut EP was secured soon after. ‘Fine Line’ was conceived in the final stages of 2019. With the extra studio time lockdown provided, the duo enjoyed a creative freefall,  
allowing them to refine a five-track work that sits at the intersection of home-listening techno and dancefloor functionalism. 

‘Natural Desire’ has a definable spunk to it, as pulsating chords undulate towards a breathy pad-laden finish. ‘Shifting Soul’ is exquisite, as crunchy drums and a rousing vocal ensure it’s a memorable addition to the Drumcode canon. The title track is colourful and thrilling in equal doses, as muscular synth lines coalesce alongside pin-sharp rhythms.  
‘Altered Cycle’ is skilfully composed and marked by a stirring melodic lead and funky percussive underbelly. ‘Curved Blade’ is abrasive and gritty, before a dreamy spoken word interlude arouses an introspective mood. A fitting soundtrack for our times.

“2020 was both strange and terrible, especially for music lovers. But it gave us enough time to carve out this collaboration. Part of the new brigade of artists making their mark on the label, Veerus lands his fifth release in two years on Drumcode.

With a pair of EPs and numerous contributions to the coveted A-Sides compilation under his belt since his debut in 2018, Veerus has established himself as a talented go-to producer for Adam Beyer; from his stirring cut ‘Hypnosis’ that highlighted the Drumcode founder’s Cercle performance, to the killer ‘System’ that provided an early 2020 moment for the label. His consistent vein of form will result in a coveted spot at Drumcode Festival Malta 2021 in September.

‘Recovery’ continues the Italian’s talent for crafting powerful melody-led techno projections. The title track is an ace. What begins as a smoky atmospheric cut is quickly elevated to beast status as intergalactic robot stabs shatter the mist, while an acid-underbelly adds to the mood. ‘Dysfunction’ brims with a distinct 90s synth aesthetic, propelled by a crisp and classy bottom end.
