Bio:
Da Author (1978- ) is an African American poet, musician, and writer of powerful ballads and controversial music that often addresses poverty in urban communities. However, he is well known for his spoken word performances. He has hosted many open Mic events; primarily at Simply Fish & JAZZ in Albany, N.Y. DA Author has graced stages all across the country but primarily in New York State. While in Albany,he's done T.V. interviews all across the tri-city region; the most notable was his interview with CARLA PAGE on the SCHENECTEDY TODAY SHOW. His biggest events were performed at the EMPIRE STATE PLAZA, (where he participated in the statewide 2007 MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY CELEBRATION), NUYORICAN POETS CAFE, and the BOWERY POETRY CLUB & CAFE. After the King Day event, Da Author made the front page of Albany N.Y.'s TIMES UNION NEWSPAPER. Da Author has performed with many artists including BLACK ICE (FROM HBO'S RUSSEL SIMMONS DEF POETRY), GEMINEYE (also from HBO's DEF POETRY SERIES), MIGUEL ALGARIN (WRITER, POET, CO-FOUNDER OF THE NUYORICAN POETS CAFE), GEORGE HUFF (SEASON 3 AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST),and many more. Be on the look out for his new spoken word CD comming soon. Da Author recorded "I CHARGE Y'ALL BY THE WORD" IN 2002. He signed to Heelan Publishing Company and has been a member of ASCAP since 2005. Songs from the "I Charge Y'all Buy The Word" album have gotten a lot of airplay on WITR 89.7 FM radio. In early 2006, "Don't Sleep" was aired for the first time in Albany on 90.9FM WCDB radio. Immediately after the spin, Da Author was allowed a half an hour freestyle session (over the air) where he performed some of his best work. In November of 2008, DagoSD.com (An internet rap radio station out of San Diego, now ranked 6th in the world) aired the song "Who Am I?" ..
