A sampler of some of the tracks I created after separating from my wife in late 2020 after nearly 27 years of marriage (and we were together for a few years before that). This happened just a couple of months after my long planned retirement. Retirement is turning out quite differently to how I imagined it!

Not all the tracks are about the separation, or my messed-up feelings...some are about the next stage in my life living in beautiful King Valley nestled in the foothills of the Australian Alpine National Park in North East Victoria.

The Ex Files

I'm recently retired and planning to explore much more of the Australian Alps including driving the 339 kilometres on the Victorian Alpine Road from Wangaratta to Bairnsdale and the exploring Australian Alpine Walking Track (maybe one day doing the whole 655 kilometres).

Around 2000 I came up with this idea that I should start a project called Bleak Guitar - a mostly instrumental "band" that would bring together all my preferences for shimmering guitars, dream pop, goth, darkwave, postrock, folk etc. It never happened - until now. 
This track, Nightlight, is an exception: It was recorded in 2002 -  having in mind it should fit the Bleak Guitar project

Ice River

I feel like I'm starting over again, as this is my first track using GB but this time on my new iPad Pro. It was a mostly impromptu performance.

The track is intended to convey a sense of poignancy as, without going into too much detail here, I'm going through a bit of a personal crisis. As always, I turn to music to ease me through the pain.
