Et si on prêtait attention à tout ce qui grouille, vibre et prolifère là où l'on ne regarde plus ? Sous nos pieds, dans les parcs, sur les toits, la ville est un écosystème qui s'ignore. La majorité invisible habite dans les interstices, les failles et les fissures urbaines. 

Approches transverses et changements d’échelles avec Nathalie Blanc.
Nathalie Blanc est géographe, directrice de recherche au CNRS. Elle a déplacé son regard pour observer, à ras du sol, les espèces, comme les rats ou les cafards, avec lesquelles on cohabite sans le savoir ou plutôt sans l'accepter. Et cette relation, souvent conflictuelle, en dit long sur notre rapport au vivant. Alors comment imaginer la ville autrement ? Une ville qui pourrait réconcilier l'homme et son environnement, une ville où l'hygiénisme et le désir de contrôle laisserait place à d'autres configurations.

What if we paid attention to all that crawl, vibrate and proliferate where we don't look anymore? Underneath our feet, in parks, on rooftops, the city is an ecosystem in disguise.

The invisible majority lives in urban voids, cracks and rifts. A transverse approach and scaling with Nathalie Blanc, geographer, head of research with the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in Paris.

She shifted her look to observe the species on the ground, like rats and cockroaches, with whom we get along with, often without knowing it, or rather without accepting it.

So, how could we imagine a different city? A city that could reconcile man and his environment, a city where hygienism and urge to control would make way for other configurations.

Phaunoscopie #2 : Villes Animales (avec Nathalie Blanc)

One of the catalysts for this whole project has been the work of El Búho. I was already familiar with his production and remix work (for the uninitiated check out his mesmerising remix of Chancha Via Circuito - Sueno en Paraguay) when I stumbled across his ‘’Roots & Rhythms’’ podcasts. I was blown away. He was compiling, on such a regular basis, a vast range of beautiful music and sharing it with the world. I hoped that I could too help share the music that I love and support these amazing artists.

Unsurprisingly El Búho was one of the first people I contacted about contributing to the series, so it is with great pleasure that I am now able to present to you his Métron Musik Mixtape. It’s as smooth and peaceful a journey as it is a beautiful and triumphant rural adventure across many sonic worlds, finding it’s final peak at the very last moments with an outstanding unreleased track of his own. Inspired by the mystical notion of musical nirvana, it’s a vivid depiction of a small part of the sonic universe, but one that feels very much at one with his impressive output to date.
