The big theme of this EP is the feelings I've been going through since 2021 started, and this song is meant to capture what it felt like to burn out and quit my job. It's something of the turning point for the overall story of the EP, where the songs before it were introspective but somewhat broad, and this song focuses in on what the rest of the EP will be about. This EP was always going to be about burning out from my job as that's the atmosphere I produced most of the instrumentals within, and it was cathartic to put those feelings into lyrics.

Something that I struggled with a lot with the songwriting on this EP is that I'd write a chorus and love it and then the song would sit there with a chorus and no verses for Months. This was probably the biggest offender in that regard, there was at least 5 months between writing the chorus and writing anything else for it... I'm really glad I found the words for it eventually! When I recorded the first verse I totally WOWED myself, it was exactly the kinda feeling I chased for the vocals on this project!

This was the latest addition to the project, it was the last instrumental I produced having started it around August 2021. After my initial hyper-prolific sprint in producing instrumentals, it became weirdly difficult to get into that mindset again and make anything I considered worth being here, but for this song, I just kinda fell in love with every aspect of it. From the beat to the piano chopping I did to the bold bass growls, this was everything I wanted the project to feel like.

So, when I was really trying to nail down lyrics on as many songs as I could, it all just came naturally for this one, probably because it was always going to be the least amount of lyrics of all the songs I still had to do, coming in at one chorus and one verse. Finishing the writing on this brought me to like 4 of the six songs being "complete" and afterwards, like a switch flipped in my head from "daunting" to "doable", I knew I could complete the other 2 songs. It really ended up being the bold and bright gust of wind to carry me towards the finish line of this project!

growth was never meant to be fast or easy

I wrote this song primarily as an entry to FORM's All Nighter Vol. 6 back in early February 2021. It didn't end up in the top 45 released on the compilation, but I was so proud of it and the style radiating from it that I used it as something of a blueprint for what I wanted to do with this whole project. Since then, I touched the mixing a bit, changed a few lines, and re-recorded all the vocals after losing the original vocal recordings and getting a better microphone.

This song was important because it spawned almost out of nowhere on one specific day and changed what "my music" could be and would be. I'd been toying with the idea of vocals since 2020 (that 100 gecs "I can do anything I put my mind to" mindset), but this was what made me decide I could make a big vocal-focused weird hyperpop album/EP.

The lyrics on this song are a combination of feelings about writing the lyrics to a song in one day and feelings about committing to be more expressive with negative emotions. I have this bad habit of bottling a lot of stress, sadness, and annoyance up and just never talking about them to anyone, which doesn't serve me well. It's important and difficult to say how I'm feeling when the timing isn't right because otherwise I'll wait an eternity and never bring it up because the timing is never perfect.

when it doesn't feel right

Made this track during FORM's All Nighter v7! Only used like 6 hours of the 24 hours, but to be fair my AC was out and it was like 90 degrees F in my room... I tried a couple new things to me, like using Splice sounds for a lot of the percussion samples, using real autotune instead of grallion 2, sidechaining Everything using compression, and in general just trying to make something a lot more 808 focused than usual. I think it turned out really nice, and a bunch of strangers complemented my voice c:
If I would've done more, I would've added a bridge and probably would've tried to make it cross the 4 minute threshold, but in the end I approached this event as an opportunity to make a fully fleshed out small sketch, so I'm not looking to change what I made

Pink Moon Escape

Hey all, here's a remix I made over the last like, 5 days lol
I love love love Charli's album How I'm Feeling Now, and this song specifically vibes with me. I love how it feels like an introspective celebration and a raw expression of love.
For the last few months since I've known about the stems, I've been trying to figure out a remix for this song, in fact I did make a lot of a remix of this song, but this last weekend I realized I got rid of the positivity and instead turned the into something that wanted to be taken somberly and seriously, which I realized was not what this song deserved. So, at 2:30am I started making this remix, I hope I'll look back in the future and think I did the song justice. (I also hope I don't regret posting this song after such a short time working on it, but I don't post enough things anyways so)
