Otto Taimela returns with his second album for London ambient free divers SWIMS, following 2024’s celebrated "Inner Beauty".

"Uncommon & Fragile" departs from Otto's meadowed, ivory-centric introspections, reaching further into binaural sound design, trance pointillism, and groundswells of angular percussion. This is less a club record, more something to soothe post-rave tinnitus on the bus home.

I’m not the biggest fan of the current timeline, so I wanted to make something pretty, splashy, colourful and quirky just for myself. Tour à tour luxuriante, mélancolique et frénétique, la musique de Conference Of The Birds est nécessairement le produit d’une collision entre deux tempéraments. Une écriture harmonieuse entre tension et contemplation, entre ardeur et nonchalance, rêveries et réalité, à la croisée de Tame Impala et Radiohead. Les rythmes mécaniques deviennent des textures et s’accordent de manière homogène aux mélodies éthérées et élégantes. Au coeur de ces paysages troublants s’élève la voix unique de César. Composés dans une période d’instabilité, les textes sont essentiellement une  collection de sentiments et de réflexions sur  le thème  de  la  fuite et du  voyage.

French electronic outfit Conference Of The Birds aim to captivate the listener with wistful, ecstatic energy, propelled by sounds and textures where synthetic and organic sounds merge together. Working from their Parisian flat, the band isolated themselves from the outside world to experiment with new techniques that eventually created their first single ‘Satan is Wiser.’

Dynamic, crisp beats are juxtaposed with full-bodied bass sounds begging to be played through a decent sound system. The founding members Cesar Pasquet and Daniel Malet teamed with former bass guitarist Kevin Haccoun and drummer Benjamin Benamou. 

The band are the product of a collision between two temperaments. A balance between tension and contemplation, between ardor and nonchalance, reveries and reality. The mechanical rhythms become textures that harmonize with the instrumental melodies. At the heart of these troubling landscapes is the unique voice of Caesar.

Composed in a period of social and political instability, the lyrics are essentially a collection of feelings and reflections on the theme of flight and travel.
