"I created this piece for my father. He passed away Feb 2011. 
I think he would have been happy to see how much progress I made in creating songs since then. 
This piece was me having a jam session with myself using NI Maschine.
Drum programming, played the bass live on the pads, played the keys..
In honor of the 10-year anniversary of my first solo album, "The Golden Hour (sdtrk)", I decided to do a jazz-influenced rework of the song "Miss U" off the album.  This one is also dedicated to anyone who has lost a parent(s)

I gave myself the challenge to sample and flip the first/lead single of my next album BEFORE it is released and ya'll hear it sometime in the future. Not only did I decide to chop the "same" sample twice, but with two different styles of hip hop production. 
Has this been done before?? 
Can't wait for ya'll to hear the actual single one day, haha.

OXP - California ft. Domino

On the dawn of a looming worldwide pandemic Athletic Mic League held an epic 4 day retreat at Wes’s creative compound. This was the first time in over 15 years the crew assembled to make music. Members traveled from California, Georgia, and Michigan (their place of origin) to reach the secret location right outside of Richmond, Virginia. No expectations were set for the retreat, therefore no one knew what the outcome would be especially after such a long hiatus. Almost immediately the Lab Techs set up several production stations throughout the compound to produce a continuous stream of non stop heaters, that set the tone for the whole thing.

The retreat represents a resurgence of one of the most innovative collectives of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It also represents the bond of a brotherhood that has lasted for 25 years. Because of that bond and a commitment to innovation, the Mic League was able to reflect on years of impact, and influence, both as a collective and individually. Stay tuned for the continuation of this narrative through their expansion of media generation in the form of music, film, creative retreats, and technology.

Formerly known as Slakah the Beatchild then Beatchild & The Slakadeliqs, now simply Beatchild, Canadian musician, producer and songwriter Byram Joseph returns to BBE Music with retrospective instrumental collection Nostalgia: Beats of 2008 – 2020.

Juno-nominated Beatchild first arrived on BBE back in 2008 with Soul Movement Vol.1, a timeless hip hop fusion record with lush live acoustic instrumentation and guest appearances from Drake, Divine Brown, Shad and many more.
