Advice for the DJs, artists and producers of our community: I have to be honest this feels like a really difficult time to give compelling and wise advice right now especially since I feel like I've never know or understood less in my life!  And I mean that both personally and universally. So I'm going to get inspiration from myself of a few years ago and resend that ; ) 

Try to compare yourself to other people as little as possible, even though it’s so hard sometimes. Everyone’s “journey” is uniquely theirs and there’s no right or wrong way to go about this. Find your voice and stay true as hell to that...there will be so many outside factors making you second guess yourself sometimes, but that’s something that truly can’t be taken away from you no matter what, and it’s something no one else has. Channel the valleys into peaks. Admit when you’ve fucked up, be accountable to yourself and your community. There is always more to learn. Find like-minded individuals to confide in and listen to them as well. Support your peers enthusiastically and without hesitation. Of course try to have as much fun as possible, but don’t let anyone for a second make you feel any shame about being very serious about your art or ambition.

I recorded this mix in my bedroom early morning last Saturday, completely unplanned except for the first 2 tracks, and I knew I wanted to end with my forthcoming remix of NYC artist Prince of Queens, which is what you hear as the final track in the mix. I wanted to create the feeling of those closing morning sets I so love and miss, and it just so happened I had pulled an all nighter just before this so I hadn't gone to bed yet, and I watched the sun rise as I mixed. Because the environment so closely mimicked the conditions of a closing set, I feel that's why this came together so easily and smoothly. Lots of trancey bits, 90s techno, big melody, and wiggly breaks. I wanted to give the mix a constant driving feel so that the energy is strong because all my fav sunrise sets are dreamy while still being slamming. At the moment I'm working on a ton of remix projects, I just finished a collab EP with a Toronto artist named Dan Only that will come out next year, and during the Christmas holidays I will finish my next solo EP as well. This year is a struggle for everyone including me, and even though it is challenging to stay creative when there is a loss of motivation and hope for the future, staying busy and consistently making stuff is the only thing that gives me fulfilment and happiness.

"For this Samhain set I aptly found myself wrestling with transition in my personal life. My housing situation was in flux and mind/patience thoroughly worn down from a year of society's hyper performative fixation on an always present Black struggle (made more dire by a pandemic). With the ancient origins of this holiday marking transition and a collision of existential planes I wanted to play from within my situation in that same manner as a means of closing the door on it in my own way.
