Stephan Laubner/STL's Homework LP was one of the first records I bought when I started DJing 'properly' back in 2007. 

If u don't know STL - very lofi, brittle, dubby, wooden, not overly bassy, discordant, minimal, scratchy, lush, strangely funky stuff, beautiful in its own way. And he does these locked grooves on most of his records, which I've mixed up here into a two hour special at 133⅓bpm. I recorded it with a new rotary EQ mixer (thanks Dean!) and then ran it through my Roland RE-201 Space Echo (thanks Maciej!)...

U might be surprised (if u listen) how organic and varied u can make a single loop, with the right EQing, cutting, boosting, fader tricks and so on - it was a lot of fun to mix, but I don't think this is a DJ thing just for other DJs.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: Your individuality makes you special, there are no rules and you don’t need to be like anyone else. They could neva be you! It’s okay to say no to things that force you to compromise on your beliefs or interfere with your energy. Time spent researching or digging for music is never time wasted. Don’t be shy to reach out to people for opportunities, but also remember the ability to ‘DIY’ can be a massive asset. Rather than wait for that label, radio station or promoter to tell you you’re good enough, why not make use of Bandcamp, Twitch, Soundcloud etc to build and grow your own community - you never know, they may be watching!
