Based in Dublin, Small Crab is a DJ, producer and founding member of the Skin & Blister collective - a platform that aims to nurture and support female identifying, trans and non-binary creatives. With releases on Early Reflex, Left, Right & Centre, Intercept and Paryìa to name a few, Small Crab's productions leans more into the percussive and breaksy realm of bass music - sounds of which you can find in the accompanying mix here. 

In the below interview, we chat with Small Crab about her early introductions to music, what her production journey has been like so far, what she loves about the scene in Dublin and her approach to podcast 191.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: Follow your instincts! When it comes to choosing music, releasing tracks, or making decisions, focus on what feels right to you and brings you joy. Prioritize your own satisfaction over how others might perceive it. Stay open-minded and explore a wide range of music—there’s no need to confine yourself to one genre or style.

About the mix: I wanted to craft an uplifting, high-energy dance mix that excites and energizes! Drawing influences from bass, reggaeton, dubstep, Afro-house, and techno, it maintains a vibrant pulse throughout. While it occasionally ventures into darker, dubstep-influenced territory, I see the percussive elements as the driving force and centerpiece of this mix.

PMx 29 - Small Crab

we’re back in new york this week with the dynamic artist no sir who has contributed an all production mix for the 212th edition of the 909 podcast. recycling old projects and combining them with unreleased and forthcoming bits, no sir has created a deeply immersive environment within the mix that showcases their range as a producer, weaving through ambient, aquatic dub, tripped-out vocals and bass-heavy rhythms. it’s low end therapy. 

based in brooklyn, no sir made their production debut in 2021 and has since gone onto releases on internationally renowned imprints such as 3024, w133, faux poly, early reflex and woozy. a rising artist within new york city’s nightlife scene, no sir is a resident of the much-loved party series the level party alongside the likes of andrew devlin, nigelthreetimes, yibing, alien d and kfeelz.

certainly one to watch, we catch up with no sir about their early relationship with music, approach to production, digging deeper into their creative process and the story behind their most recent ep on early reflex with more music on the way very soon!

Untitled 909 Podcast 212: No Sir

A masterful opening set from NYC's kennzoid recorded live from Jupiter Disco. Filled with beautiful dreamy and juxtaposing glitchy moments to get lost in, the set builds seamlessly into sleazy dnb and all encompassing warm dub soundscapes with tracks by the likes of opheliaxz, Chewlie, Jonnah and Trois-Quarts Taxi System. 

kennzoid is a DJ and nightlife photographer who has started throwing the bass-forward parties alongside Maharam called Final Passage. Since launching the event series they've booked the likes of Atrice, Ma Sha, Viiaan, Apok, Prime Suspect, Jenga and mush.

This month we have Chewlie in the mix and chat.

Bern based artists Chewlie has been on our radar over the past few of years with some incredible releases under her belt for the likes of YUKU, Ghosttown and BRUK. Her sound ranges from intricate electronics to hard hitting sonics showcasing a truly diverse and unique audio palette.  We had chance to catch up and chat about her influences and how she approaches her production plus find out what she's got lined up for 2025. The mix showcases some of her own productions interspersed with tracks touching all corners of her musical universe. Truly one to watch and one we hope to bring into the PD fold in the very near future.
