Entirely created by manipulating the sounds of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and atomic detonations taken mostly from Japanese television news and documentaries, the suite investigates the mediatized dimension of the catastrophes that have shocked Japan. These events are here understood both as a systemic threat held up as an instrument of social peace (on the basis of the theories from urbanist Paul Virilio) and a structural presence in the collective imagination, coining an authentic "unconscious mythology of destruction".

It consists of five acts: in the first, the terror of humans and animals fleeing from the devastating earthquake of 2011 is literally "played" in a distressing rhythmic-harmonic pattern; in the second, the layering of deafening sounds provides the soundtrack to a live tragedy; in the third, space is left for a droney post-trauma contemplation, punctuated by the treacherous ticking of a Kraftwerk-like Geiger counter (the reference is obviously to the Fukushima disaster); in the fourth, the pitched sound of the lava flow that killed volcanologist spouses Katia and Maurice Krafft on Mount Unzen in 1991 is interpolated with the emphatic commentary of a speaker; the fifth, finally, takes head-on the atomic nightmare that forced Hirohito's Japan to surrender, superimposing the exhausting timestretching of an explosion with a sad and dissonant reinterpretation of the national anthem, ending with the infamous spur ("Are you or are you not samurai?”) with which the poet-soldier Yukio Mishima harangued the new military recruits before taking his own life.

The title, a deliberately rough Japanese translation of "Le Temps En Ruines" by ethnologist Marc Augé,  reflects on the idea of ​​a civilization capable of leaving traces of a ruinous extinction rather than vestiges of a glorious past.
