Cat: (Stretching and yawning) You know, I’ve always wondered what you do up here, all night, staring into nothingness.
Owl: (Calmly) I don’t stare into nothingness, dear Cat. I observe the essence of the night, the pulse of life. Here, everything seems to stop… and at the same time, everything moves.
Cat: (Rolling eyes) Owl philosophy. Have you noticed that sometimes life is just eating, sleeping, hunting pigeons, and not much else?
Owl: (Smiling) Pigeons. Why do you dwell on them so much?
Cat: They’re… a mystery. Clumsy, insistent, they take over the squares as if they own them. But… for what? What’s their purpose?
Owl: (Thoughtful) Perhaps the purpose of pigeons is to remind us that even in the common, there is mystery. They fly, they eat crumbs, they survive. In their simplicity, there is wisdom.
Cat: (Skeptical) That, or they’re just… annoying. Each one seems to have only one thought in its head: “Where are the crumbs?”
Owl: (Laughs) Sometimes, I wonder if life is anything more than that, Cat. A search for our own crumbs. Something we pursue without really understanding why.
Cat: (Pensive) But we’re not pigeons, Owl. I hunt because I want to, because I can, and because… well, because I like it. I don’t chase crumbs; I chase… how to put it? Moments of thrill.
Owl: (Nods) And perhaps, in that, lies our difference from the pigeons. We search for something beyond mere survival. Yet even so, don’t you sometimes feel like we’re wandering without a clear purpose?
Cat: (Pauses) Hmm. I suppose so, especially on those long nights where everything feels too still. Like now. (Looks at the sky) Tell me, Owl, what meaning do you give to all this?
Owl: (Whispers) Meaning, dear Cat, isn’t something you find. It’s something you create. It’s the echo of our actions, the reflection of our desires. It’s the empty space we fill with our small pursuits.
Cat: (Reflective) So for you, being here, every night, observing, gives meaning to your existence. Interesting. Sometimes I think hunting pigeons gives a little meaning to mine, too.
Owl: (Chuckles softly) Perhaps, Cat, every creature, even the pigeons, has its own meaning. Even if it’s just to take up a square, search for crumbs, or make us reflect on nights like this.
Cat: (Sighs) Well, Owl, maybe you’re right. Maybe life is just that: a succession of small things with no apparent connection. But here we are, debating pigeons and the meaning of existence.
Owl: (Looking up at the moon) That’s right, dear Cat. And maybe, in this small dialogue, we’ve created our own purpose for the night.

Both remain silent, contemplating the night, each absorbed in thought. The moon shines brightly, illuminating their silhouettes on the branch, while below, a pigeon pecks absentmindedly at the ground.
