"Rebel on the Run," the debut single from Dakota Ray Parker, has already racked up hundreds of thousands of YouTube views and has launched Parker up the ranks in the Midwest Americana and folk scene.

“Rebel on the Run,” showcases his metaphorical style, describing a desert trip filled with turmoil, self-doubt and soul-searching:

"Marching through the pitch black desert / My thoughts are getting loud / Mistakes I made, debts unpaid / Trying to tear this rebel down."

Backing the songwriter's Appalachian drawl and guitar picking are haunting fiddle and mandolin sounds with a pulsing rhythm section in bass guitar and drums.

I wrote this tune in the perspective of Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer. He was a notorious serial killer who strangled his 49 victims and threw them in the Green River.

A native of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Dakota Ray Parker grew up exploring the mountains, playing in the creeks and living in a land “of true freedom.” His parents scraped together enough money to buy a guitar for him in high school and, taking inspiration from local bluegrass players and his dad’s love of southern gospel and 1990s country, he began writing songs.
